Pretty common to say in Australia. Took me a while to get used to it and not think they were low key trying to tell me they weren't straight.

Chestfeeding persons offended by this post bro
Was married once and she was my wife. The lady I am with now and have been with for 17 yrs is my partner in life. Awesome. I don’t need a piece of paper to know what I have is special. Wife to me is living by a set of rules decreed by an archaic system that I don’t want to be part of. That’s just me

Eh, I don't know, people around town ask me where my "friend" is when I'm not with my husband, I don't correct them, I'm not interested in imposing my lifestyle choices on anyone. I have a particular sympathy towards marriage being a religious institution. 10 years going strong, this is who I'll spend the rest of my life with, and fuck taxes, all I need to know. I'll use husband in the context of I'm talking to my boss and he's asking me why I'm taking time off, or in legal settings, my husband isn't estranged from anyone close to us so we just use first names like normal people.
I am not married but I say Wife and she Husband. Our kids call us father/mother and we consider us a happy family. No Gods No Masters
my daily struggle lol my married gay friends say husband and wife, who are you protecting? let's make english even more confusing just to announce our political allegiances 🤦‍♂️

They then mostly claim that you are intolerant towards "non-binary" people. They want you to use "gender-neutral" language. Husband and wife are the bad-evil binary-gendered words ...
