Aristotles approach was more constructive.
He listed all forms of government, pointing out the flaws and strengths of each one.
Then he proposed not to have a single form of government, but to have multiple form each balancing the other out.
The US Constitution tried to construct such a government, and it worked for a while. But little by little the government structure got eroded and changed into what it is today.
This isn't a failure of the system. It is the failure of those who created it. Their failure was that they did not manage to teach their generation the philosophy on which they founded their politics.
Good point. It's very easy to sway ignorant people one way or another, politics feels more like the most popular reality TV show now.
