Also, that is a perfect reason to say L3 is a bad idea. If the predicate is not working why build more on top of it. "Yeah my framing is falling apart but I want to add another floor to my house" probably not a smart move.
Nope, people don't hate L3. People just hate gay Calle's Cashu. Why people don't dunk on Fedimit as much as gay Calle's Cashu. READ THE ROOM. STOP FUDNING INCOMPETENT AND/OR ARROGANT DEVS.
Idk self custody LN isnโ€™t really that hard, especially if you include services like @Alby Works pretty much perfectly except that they donโ€™t notify you if your node needs to be updated and they donโ€™t do it automatically because you have to stop the node to update it

Bro cโ€™monโ€ฆ Think like a much lazier and careless sample of non-custodial LNโ€™s target audience. Realistically, it needs to be much easier to use and maintain.
I tried to read the room, but I think the initial conversation took place in a different room. Which L3 was being referenced? Took me a second, but I think I finally got what you're saying. Gotta have a firm foundation to build on. Non-custodial LN has worked pretty smooth for me. ๐Ÿค” Node, Zeus, VPS to Clearnet. Is anyone working on lightning still? btw, I miss that technical nap time podcast. It's why I don't know the answer to the question above btw.

I don't care about lazy people. They are going to starve in the coming fiat collapse. This is like saying: "Diet and Exercise are too much for the average lazy person." Okay, then die of congestive heart failure. Custodial Lightning is the Ozempic of Bitcoin.
My only complaint is that I can no longer sign in without retrieving the one time code from my email, so if I lose access to that email account, I lose access to Alby hub. There should probably be an option to have a backup email address or something.

Iโ€™m using Alby hub for some time already and itโ€™s fairly easy. More people should try it!
You do not lose funds if a lightning channel is closed. These funds in that channel are going back to your on-chain balance. Please contact us and we can check the reason of the channel closure. support.getalby.com
It is less the balance that matters but the current on-chain fees that determine the cost of closing the channel. And these fees are very, very low at the moment.

Perhaps if there is a force closure of someone's lightning channel you could auto send the client a breakdown of what happened and clarity on the funds flow/fees etc. It's a shitty end user experience and undermines trust (understanding the closure might not be Alby's fault etc). I have zero idea why my channel would just cease to exist but I'm not keen to open a new one with Alby until I understand the why if it.
