nope. it's geomagnetic storms. several of my follows reported incidents in the last week. and the sources i have say that there is a very good chance that this will continue for the next year as we ride the slide back down away from the current cycle 25 solar max. in about 9-10 years time this will happen again, but probably worse, as the trend on geomagnetic storms is upwards, and probably the solar flare/sunspot/coronal hole activity will be greater by then as well, because it's an ongoing magnetic polar flip (90 degrees) that is weakening the heliosphere and all of the planetary magnetic fields (mars, venus, mercury and pluto don't have dynamos but they do have induced fields. couple of years ago pluto's atmosphere was observed to have lost some 30% or more of its content, blowed away by solar and interstellar wind
