Without a doubt, the “don’t spend your Bitcoins” narrative has taken hold strongly. At this point, I’m not really sure what the point is of developing payment protocols like ARK or Spark, or even Lightning. Bitcoiners hammering nails into their own coffin. image

The way I see it, Bitcoin’s true value lies in its ability to be used. Every opportunity to put it into circulation increases its value. The idea of hoarding it exclusively goes against that. It stems from greed. And nothing new can come from that kind of thinking. So, yes, it makes perfect sense to work on payment options.
Bitrefill does not accept Monero. In all services that accept both Bitcoin and Monero, Monero usually comes out on top because its users are more knowledgeable.
Can you make Bitrefill accept Monero? I am willing to bet anybody that within one year of acceptance Monero will come out ahead. Now do I believe that everything should be put onchain? No. That's why FCMP++ is such an interesting development as it enables L2 for Monero. The problem is forced adoption of L2. It either comes organically or not at all. Bitcoin killed sensible onchain growth in favour of LN that consisted of a mere whitepaper.
Thus proving that narratives matter, maybe even more that development "at this point."
