What can be done against it?
Noncompliance is pretty much the only thing. They will tell us we have to use centralized exchanges. You have to be willing to still trade P2P or use Bisq. They will tell us we can’t coinjoin. You have to be willing to still coinjoin. As a business they will tell you that you have to KYC your customers who pay with Bitcoin. You have to be willing to let your customers still pay anonymously. Takes the will to take some risk, which will be tough during the “then they fight you” stage which we are in the beginning of.
I also think about having plausible deniability. Using lightning as it was intended is about the most normal thing you can do with bitcoin, and it offers moderate privacy. The problem is with all these LSPs moving in.
Lightning as it is right now is pretty private, but businesses will likely be told to run OFAC compliance nodes like this, at which point noncompliance comes in to play.

nostr is the only real defense that bitcoin has. Expanding and fortifying this ecosystem is the most important work we can do.
Would love to see a estimate of the kyc percentage of total supply or percentage of kyc recently transacted coins.
This is only going to work if when it comes time you have the ability to say no.
Is there a tipping point? If kyc percentage of supply reaches a certain level will it incentivize them to consolidate the populations holdings by force?
If so every kyc exchange making kycbtc easier than the alternative is a threat to everyone.
