The Irish state recently endorsed a book aimed at children as young as 9 that included detailed instructions on how to clean your asshole for anal-sex. No internet involved.

parents have the power to control what their kids read. my mom would always be there with me at the library until i was 16. stop blaming the outside world for parents being awful parents. i swear it be the people not married, in no relationship, with no kids that care the most about bs that is probably untrue. go outside.

til what age ? not a fake war at all, if you can’t see it (which I know you can) doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Our reality is literally being manipulated n changed.

until they’re 18. people willingly purchasing their children smartphones and ipads and letting them online all day unsupervised is the real issue. parents are hoping the internet will do their jobs for them.

I agree about the age thing but that’s not the real issue bc we both know we didn’t start using the internet or social media at 18 and to say others should when we didn’t is kind of ironic.. my mom doesn’t know any better, she didn’t know what I’d be exposed to ( most mothers didn’t/don’t) this is about awareness, nothing more, nothing less.

Kind of like people without kids, judging those that do? I’m sorry, I value your opinion on many things, but until you’re a parent you can’t really make statements like the ones above. I used to think I knew better too, until I had my own kids. It’s everywhere. It’s impossible to protect our children, every moment, of every day, nor should I have to or want to. It has crept into every aspect of their lives and it’s not just negligent parents that have to deal with it. You will see and learn when you have your own.

The only way to deal with it is to be open with our children. To teach them how to think critically, and deconstruct what is fed to them. We can’t hide them away from it. We have to make them understand, and model that healthy habits, an understanding of themselves and their bodies, and how they portray themselves to the world, will determine how they are viewed and whether or not they garner the respect they deserve. It’s way harder to do this when they are constantly being fed media that tells them the opposite. No other generation has had to deal with it, to this degree.
