When you finally start to improve yourself you’re going to make the people around you deeply uncomfortable.
Because up to this point you’ve had an unspoken agreement to be losers together.
You start winning?
“Hey man that wasn’t part of our deal?”
You become a mirror.
A mirror that people don’t like looking in.
Because it reflects their choices back at them in opposition to yours.
You’re gonna have to go it alone.
None of those people from the past are coming with.
Not a single one.

Truth
I disagree with the "you're going to have to go it alone" line.
It should be a part of our lives that we surround ourselves with people who will support us. We choose who is a part of our lives, maybe with some exceptions to family. I want to choose people who will celebrate my wins.
Absolutely. Probably should have said you’ll have to go it alone for awhile. Eventually you meet your people on the other side.
Just become a funhouse mirror.
Yeah you're probably right. I guess I hope I won't always have to feel alone though. At least some part of me still hopes that.
I was just reflecting on this moments ago. Old 'friends' don't call anymore. It's a lonely place atm, but there's no other way.
I read it as if you alone will have to make decisions, others can't do it for you.
Different interpretations I guess.
So what you're saying is none of your old friends like you anymore?
Some don’t like me. Some I don’t like. Some just naturally drifted apart.
In my experience if you’re willing to be brave and say what you think is true you will find your people eventually.
You are not alone.

One of the best thinkers I’ve ever seen on this is Tyler from RSD. You can say his methods are cringe but it’s quite helpful.
He says that life is a lot like a dance class: everyone’s just looking at the mirror to make sure they don’t look dumb and they barely give a fuck what you’re doing.
This resonated with me. Was having a conversation with a friend today about a difficult decision and she said something similar. 🙏

It's lonely af

Sad but true. Never make the unspoken agreement to be a loser.
My sister from another mother spent a couple of days with me recently. She left feeling inadequate and feeling she's wasted her life.
I was unaware my unrelenting enthusiasm, self sovereignty and knowledge was having a negative effect on her.
I deeply regret making her feel this way, but I am able to improve the quality of her life and that of her children going into the future and I wanted her to know that.

Find a good, Bible believing church. Read your Bible so you know if what you are being taught is Biblical or just psychological. New Christian friends will help you in your walk with Christ.
I don't think there's an actual biblical church within 50 miles of where I live. 😡
That is sad. We've got a fantastic church.
Sometimes a church has problems, but is still worth attending if there are no other options. Sometimes they are so apostate and anti-biblical that they cause more harm than good. I don't know what your situation is.
It is true that it is getting harder and harder to find a church that truly believes and preaches the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation without putting a huge cultural spin on it and leaving out the parts they don't like.
It is.
To be honest, I haven't looked all that hard, either, but... If your church is adorned in rainbows and "love is love" signs, I would rather burn it down than attend.
That's what we've been doing. Just takes time to form those deep relationships.
It does, but it is worth it.

I recently quit all drugs (weed) and alcohol (not caffeine though, I'm not a total psychopath). It's been 15 days and I'm feeling great.
Going to a party today, so I'm going to have to explain myself to more people than I have had to so far. I find myself thinking about this note from @HODL and it feels so true.
Wish me luck 🙏

You are right. We’ll see it when this bull cycle kicks off……
…..’dude, you should have told me how to get into that!’
(Bites tongue on reminding about links to Swan, etc. sent in the past 18 months).
My immediate family likes that I’m healthier and more chill/happy though
It makes me sad because I've always loved seeing people succeed. I've enjoyed seeing friends improve and succeed. Some of the same friends haven't felt the same way for my family and I and just tell me how lucky I am. Well I didn't see you busting your butt for all these years and skipping going to the bars etc.. True friends are amped for your success.
Keep up the strong work everyone.
Yes daddy!
Some are inspired
It is even more uncomfortable for them especially if you tried to take them on your journey of improvement for their betterment…….
nope
loyalty and duty obligate the improving one to maintain strong relationships with their people
burning bridges is assinine
