shows how much history you know, bro
they are "wandering stars" as mentioned in the book of Jude, fake jews. yes, semitic, but no, not from the nation of israel, and certainly not from the 12 tribes.
these are families who have been enslaving and oppressing people across the world for thousands of years. they are not jews in the sense that they are from the original jews predating the time of jesus.
but carry on, ignoring history.
If the "fled north" detail is central to what you're remembering, you might also be thinking of the Khazar Khaganate (~740 AD), whose ruling elite famously converted to Judaism — a remarkably similar "religion shopping" story that predates Vladimir's by about 250 years. After the Khazars' empire collapsed (destroyed by Vladimir's father Sviatoslav around 965 AD), Khazar populations dispersed in various directions.
that's who the power elite "jews" are. jewish in name but certainly not the same ones the old testament talks about.

they are khazars, first. and jews second.
it's not helpful to be fooled by liars about the facts of history and such things as whether the rest of jewry is anything to do with them. because you look like an idiot, and you are tilting at windmills like don quixote.
incidentally, here's some interesting details about how russia became a christian nation:
the Christianization of Kievan Rus' under Vladimir I (Vladimir
the Great) in 988 AD.
The key story from the Primary Chronicle (Povest vremennykh let) describes Vladimir evaluating the major religions before choosing one for his realm:
- Islam — rejected, reportedly because it forbade alcohol ("Drinking is the joy of the Rus', we cannot exist without it")
- Judaism — rejected because Vladimir noted God had allowed the Jews to lose their homeland, which he took as a sign of disfavor
- Roman Catholicism — envoys found the Latin churches uninspiring
- Eastern Orthodox Christianity — envoys visited the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople and
were overwhelmed ("We knew not whether we were in heaven or on earth")
Vladimir chose Orthodox Christianity, was baptized, married the Byzantine princess Anna, and then ordered the mass baptism of Kyiv's population in the Dnieper River. Conversion was then imposed across his territories, including a famously violent forced baptism of Novgorod (~990 AD), where resistance was crushed — the chronicle records "Putiata baptized with the sword, Dobrynya with fire."
Pagan communities in more remote northern and rural areas resisted and in some cases fled deeper into forests and northern territories to avoid forced conversion. Slavic paganism persisted in remote areas for centuries afterward (a phenomenon called dvoeverie — "double faith").
I don't care if they're the same jews. All I care about is that they are a group with a lot of power who thinks that people like me (goyim) are subhuman and are using their power to make my life and those of my friends and family and all others of my race in the USA and Europe appreciably worse in every capacity.
Is it all jews, or people who identify as jews? Certainly not, and it'd be unfair to claim so. Is it enough of them with enough power and a unified mission? Without question.
That's all that matters.
