the dynamic between the bitcoin community and the monero community is so weird man.
bitcoin community: die die die I hate you shitcoin die
monero community: we still want to like bitcoin. we've probably been using it longer than you. here's like 7 different ways you can make us obsolete. here's all the flaws you can address to make us come back
bitcoin community: I can't I'm too busy ossifying trusted third parties. die shitcoin die

Bitcoin maxis are very similar to leftists. They’re radical, dogmatic, and toxic; they don’t accept being questioned. They call themselves enlightened, knowing the supreme truth, and they signal virtue toward the traditional financial system (but they’re basically its little bitch*s). They even have their idols (like Saylor). In short, they’re a pathetic cult.
Meanwhile, the moneristas value privacy above all, because they know there’s no freedom without privacy. They’re curious about cypher-punk technologies, love debating innovations in the crypto ecosystem, and enjoy discussing new ways to fight the traditional system because they refuse to ally with it (governments hate it). In short, they’re the real cypher-punks, fighting in the underground.
It depends on "WHO" are those "bitcoin maxis" you're referring to. Here in nostr, I've seen lots of those kind of bitcoin users you're complaining about. They are corny as fuck. They are just a bunch of hippies at their middle age crisis who want to belong to something "revolutionary"; unfortunately, they also achieve that sense of belonging by disparaging Monero and its users . They say XMR is a "shitcoin" and they actively ignore and dismisses you for liking Monero, even if you do like Bitcoin too. They're pathetic as hell.
---Starts a personal opinion---
And what I fucking hate the most about them, is all this mainstream crap they do to feel and pretend being part of this "rebellion". I'll give you an example, a coffee shop that accepts bitcoin payments; everything fine and all until you realize that coffee shop is so "Bitcoin" oriented. A large fuck ass B of bitcoin in the wall, chairs with Bs on them, the coffee shop it's called BitCoffee or some shit like that. Man, I just want to go for a normal coffee and spend on BTC or XMR, doesn't mean you have to do all this crap. I rather go to a fucking normal coffee shop and just be able to use my btc or xmr to buy shit, I don't want to see all this corny mainstream crap.
Not because a coffee shop or whatever shop accepts dollars, it has to be decorated with a big ass dollar sign ($) all over it's fucking wall.

Also is true, they love sucking Saylor's cock too much.
And I'm gonna say something. I believe that Silk Road did more for bitcoin by using it as an exchange coin than what Saylor is doing for it (literally nothing but hoarding bitcoin and not even using it).
In short words, not all Bitcoin users are like this, just the mainstream ones or as they usually name themselves: bitcoin maxis.
Yea sad, todays Bitcoiners are mostly low iq Religiots, unable to reason for themselves.
Satoshi would rotate in his grave.
They dont even realize that every single Monero user was or is still a Bitcoiner.
Spot on. I think the wisest use case is to hold both XMR and BTC. I even think there are genuine use cases for other alt coins (though I agree many of them are trash), and I also support the larger Web3 movement at an ideological level of decentralization and self-sovereignty. I also support diversification of the assets you hold, including precious metals (primarily gold and silver).
Because of that perspective, I get into arguments with the BTC maxis more than I would like and I always come out of those arguments more convinced than ever that they are a cult.
True bitcoiners moved long time ago. Others still get hard when they hear about MSTR and Saylor talking.
Ossifying trusted third parties is a fair criticism—Bitcoin’s ETF boom has skewed priorities toward institutional capture, not privacy. Just read an analysis on how April ‘26 ETF flows eroded self-custody trends. Monero’s focus on fundamentals is a needed counterweight.

I agree with you. I keep both XMR anf BTC. I'm not interested anymore in chatting with maxis
Saylor is the biggest scam of this entire system. I think banks are using it to destroy bitcoin inside out. He wouldn't be alive otherwise
The cultist behavior made me question their mindset and my decision to be bitcoin only and finally brought me to monero. So I think I have to thank them 😅
Y'all are talking to some weirdos. Also, some monerbros give me the die die die treatment as well but, it's just the net dudes.
This quite true. I had my first encounter with the Monero community last year when attending the Monero Konferenco in Prague right after the BTC conference. All participants I engaged with were ex bitcoiners and quite a few were still bitcoiners. The vide was definitely cypherpunk and it was very refreshing from the big Bitcoin conferencses and the centralised actors. I think the two assets are not mutually exclusive. Satoshi wanted a peer to peer cash system, yes, but he also recognised early on Bitcoin was more like digital gold.
If this is your perspective it's because you want to be a victim. There's a huge chunk of us on nostr that embrace the XMRtards.
But bitcoin will not adopt the things you want, the transparency is a feature not a bug. Best to have both.
So stop engaging with bitcoin maxis and focus on building relationships with freedom maxis
Oh man, that hits home. I've mined bitcoin right from the start in 2009 and used it then because I enjoy the tech, kept on mining and trying new stuff as it comes out
Eventually Monero solved the shortcomings of BTC and so made sense to pass more time there. Fast forward some years and that outdated tech is a quasi-religion and anyone pointing the finger to the obvious flaws is an heretic that should burn on the cross.
Anyone using monero tends to be looking on the technical perspective and enjoy new developments that make cryptocurrencies better.
That crowd doesn't really understand what crypto is about.
some of it seems to be well intentioned. like for real I have used over 100 altcoins and almost all of them were just a money grab if they were not an honest experiment.
the whole "do nothing or they might add something bad and we'll end up like one of them shitcoins" idea is still stupid though. too late!!
Yeah, it is a waste of time to get envolved with casino coins unless you feel like playing slot machines.
Really enjoyed projects like SIGNA because of the storage based mining approach and BEAM because they are like ETH but with monero privacy on top. They also had great bots on telegram to send money between friends without external tools nor trouble.
Interesting projects are rare.
...and they should all have just been bitcoin sidechains
That would only be helping to perpetuate tech from those cultists to continue using CIA-honeypot blockchains.
