Good morning and pura vida, Nostr. ππ€π»π€π»
Last week I got introduced to a couple dozen people l'd never met as "the Nostr CEO." I laughed. It's a hilarious meme filled with love, support, and inside jokes from this community. I think about this often. I truly love this community. I do love all of you here so very much.
But here's the thing: Nobody owns Nostr. That's the whole point. There's no board or executive team. No algorithm deciding what you see. No trust & safety team deciding what you can say. This is still a powerful selling point for newcomers.
A protocol can't have a CEO. That's why it works! It's why it's cool! We're just humans being humans without software getting in the way. How it should be. Before corporations broke that.
But deep down we know that we can't just be a decentralized alternative that wins people over. The alternatives need to exist in the ecosystem to make the ecosystem whole, however new ideas with unique features is what will bring in the next wave.
Build the weird. Discover the unique. And when it all just works together, that's our superpower that doesn't exist anywhere else.

CEO? More like *community impersonator*.
After the Damus and Primal flame war last week this is like drinking a cool glass of water on a hot summer day!
You're the perfect person to carry the title because you say things like this
Nobody owns Nostr π Good morning and great note, love you too man

Gm
Wait, so the promotion you gave me to Chief Shitpost Officer was never real? π±
GM π«
I'll see if we can get @npub180cv...h6w6 and the rest of the board to approve it.
You're a good man guv π«‘
I guess π
But that isn't where motivation cames from. GM my friend.
That was just awful. Imagine being new and bullish on Nostr and joining and seeing the shit being going around for a week.
You got me.
Well... This is actually a very nice decoy! Why not go with it?
Yeah I wish cooler heads could have prevailed and Matt and will just called and discussed in private
I love the support but I don't want people to ever get the wrong impression of me or my intentions either. Plus CEOs get off of airplanes in France and go to jail. That's not cool.
This got me thinking... What if Nostr had a fake company which claims it owns it, and most of relay owners would confirm it? Our world works in a mysterious way, and as crazy is it sounds, it could actually work
next mission to make Blossom understand, go Derek
i still don't know what blossom servers are

Yes you are right, a dedicated person would have to bear that task, and I don't think there are many volunteers...

Agreed. But I don't think we necessarily need to build the weird, just boring but useful stuff with better UI/UX...and less social networks.
Is it fair to call you a βProtocol Leaderβ, or a βKey POC for Nostr protocol?
It appears some nomenclature is needed, even though CEO wouldnβt be the correct designation based on the above.
We could follow the Debian model to decide who is the CEO for a limit of time ;)
Can we decide this via Zapathon? π
Basically. I never stop working. Though I am going out on my boat here in 15 minutes.
CEO more like EVO (executive vibes officer)
I'll allow it.
Enjoy
I'd love to just be a guy that uses Nostr π
but I call myself Soapbox DevRel and a Nostr Evangelist.
Useful stuff is useful now but it was weird when it first started. A photos only app? Weird. An app that is only 140 characters? Weird. Selling items on the Internet? Weird. Making payments on the Internet? Weird.
Weird to many, useful to some, eventually turns into useful for most.
Users shouldn't have to know what these pieces of the infrastructure do or mean or what they are. Everything should just work.
Nostr is pretty weird π€
No thank you.
But go ahead and try it. Nostr is an open protocol.
We do be like that. @walker is the worst here. Or the best. Depends on your stance.
the arguing was nothing. it was funny. it baffles me why everyone took it so seriously. lol. it was just a couple of butthurt jealous babies being pouty and mad at the popular cool kids.
howeverβeveryone with rationality and a moral compass should take note of the actually reprehensible stuff that goes on here ALL THE TIME.
ill just give one recent example: like these guys, supposedly βwesternβ men who are actually more like the men in the deserts who force women to wear burkas and create actual laws barring girls from getting an education.
It's awful because it's the same conversation every six months. Almost like clockwork. It's been three years of it.
I would say to delete this page then, otherwise it's too easy

Your content. Your vibe. Your rules.
This is similar to how I think of it. UTXO shared one of his website that lets people send fiat using Bitcoin rails. I'm starting to think I am too idealistic, too anti-fiat for normies. To grow nostr, we(at least I) need to be less idealistic.
@Sirius recently relased a VPN. I'm sure you know, but I find assigning an npub to each device facinating. I also think VPN's have a chance to grow nostr because companies spend money for VPN ads. There must be a demand for VPNs.
This also makes me think we could use #nostr as an IoT protocol. I think Uncle Bob Martin even mentioned this in the very early days.
I've used Home Assistant, but it's a pain in the ass. Nostr would make IoT much easier to run.
ben replying to selfbank even has his young daughter in his pfp. the absolute irony and complete lack of rationality is what is truly strange with ALL the MANY dudes that are like this here.
the absence of logic is furthermore astounding bc while they im sure they talk about sovereignty, theyβre obviously regurgitating rhetoric that theyβve been and are currently spoon fed by other social media platforms.
theyβre not free; theyβre brainwashed in the worst kind of ways.

Youβre a good person, man.
Itβs a hard thing to resist influence and power when it comes to us. So kudos to you for putting things right π
New ideas with unique features...?
I just finished this: https://grantless.org/about
It's a new, permissionless, 100%-nostr-based Open Source Software crowdfunding protocol, based on #catallax, #WoT and #dlists . If you've ever been rejected from a grant application, you might enjoy Grantless :)
It's kind of like OpenSats, in that money goes from donors to software teams, except it's run by you and the people you trust.
Grantless is cypherpunk. There's no middleman, platform or legal entity involved. No KYC nor AML. Anyone can curate, anyone can review work, anyone can handle/escrow funds, anyone can put themselves up for funding (there's no "applying" because you can't be denied a shot at raising money from the plebs). It's crowdfunding done right: where the crowd calls its own shots.
We use decentralized lists for basic curation and spam prevention - but we're just scratching the surface of what we can use dlists for...
Let me know if you have any questions about how it works or if you'd like to have your project show up on #grantless but you don't feel like going through the **permissionless** legwork of getting yourself on there - I can help out with that.
I'll publish a roadmap soon with what I'd like to add to this client in the (near) future.
And I'm probably not looking at notifications tonight, so if you reply here I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Enjoy!

No mate. It's just the clear and obvious discrepancy of talent and performance between top tier men's professional football and ladies football. They are purely and simply not comparable. It's great that women are playing and undoubtedly a positive movement to support and encourage. As is youth football and amateur football. But presenting them on equal footings in national media coverage is absurd.
"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."
This is not regurgitation of rhetoric, it's observation of reality. My eight year old boy has watched both and candidly described women's football as "trash".
βIt's great that women are playing and undoubtedly a positive movement to support and encourage.β
you got this one part right, but spectacularly fail to see how it can be applied to the world.
and you should watch what you say around your son. please do stop teaching the future to hate women, to hate the sight of them.
At what point did I say I hated women? I didn't. I think you're projecting some personal issues on me. Peace sister.
your hatred is implied. you are expressing disgust and disappointment about the mere fact that the bbc is talking about womenβs sport.
according to you, womenβs sport does not βdeserveβ airtime because womenβs sport is not fun for you and your son.
youβre talking about how much you HATE to see or hear about women on the bbc.
just change the channel to what you both like instead of being unreasonably and irrationally hateful.
i hope you understand now.
peace be with you and your son.
You embedded hatred, not me. I'm simply observing reality about the relative expertise, skill and woke media coverage. So obvious that my five year old noticed a differential entirely independently and without any influence from me.

i wish i could help you understand where you are wrong and why you are being harmful towards others. i see that itβs not your conscious intention, but in reality, you are not being so nice towards women and it ends up harming and hurting other people.
maybe it will occur to you later.
i hope you would just encourage ~everyone~ to be happy and have fun with sports. it doesnβt have to only be the strongest male players.
itβs just fun. please just let everyone have fun.
I totally agree with you, everyone should have fun with sports. 100%. Peace.
