Similar to X, but can’t be censored. You can take your nsec and use any client. Notes, or posts, are transmitted via relays. The two links on my linktree go into detail on the protocol and what it aims to solve.
For the type of content you make, you will probably want to pay for some hosting service. Because nostr is decentralised there isn't one server where everything gets uploaded to like tiktok or Twitter. There are a bunch of free and paid ones. Same goes for the relays, you can set up your own relay if you're really serious about nostr. There are many many different clients and apps used to access nostr, try a few of them out.
nostr 101: -each user has a unique id that he can generate independently (similar to a bitcoin addresses) -relays are dumb simple servers -notes composed by users and shared redundantly to many relays and a user can specify these relays -notes are only text to keep the relay operation simple and cheap -notes may point to web addresses that host media or any large data. -a nostr client fetches notes from relays and takes care of organizing these notes onto social media posts (or any other form) -a user can choose from which client he would like to access notes such as primal.net, iris.to, rabbit.syusui.net or many others censorship resistance: -In case a client tried to suppress a user, that user can switch to another client without losing his fanbase, posts, followers, DMs or even his bookmarks -for relays, notes are already redundant on many relays and the user can specify his favorite relays to host his notes i hope that wasn't much 😃 thanks for your work man, you are a legend

Hi, I can’t speak to the specific technicalities of how to use this platform, so forgive me if I sound super beginner and naive 🤣, but I think, by using Nostr, you are basically helping yourself and the work you do, continue to be owned by your self and not a centralized entity like X or TikTok. I think it’s a great way to instantly raise money for the causes you are doing because 1. Zaps use bitcoin that is permissionless and borderless. You could send this money directly to people who need it without using a middleman exchange, or non profit for example. 2. People who receive your bitcoin don’t need a centralized bank to receive them. Access is free to anyone. I personally use Nostr to simply list my thoughts and ideas as an archive and I’m quite content with that at the moment. It might be difficult to foster the same kind of following you might have on other websites because Nostr does not have algorithms we are used to, but it’s still worth keeping and definitely using Nostr even if it was just a form of archive on your end. It would also take convincing some of your followers from other platforms to sign up for Nostr. But nonetheless, I think this is still a great place to be.
I’m a total newb. But I’ll give it a try. 1. You are given public & private keys. They’re ur login ID. No personal identification necessary. 2. With this you can access the NOSTR protocol through a client. Like I use primal, damus etc. they’re just a face for the protocol. 3. Whatever u type in, reply, zap are sent through Relays. Relays are like channels through with everything here is shared around. 4. Because the client is just a face, your info is stored on the protocol itself, you’re not locked to any 1 client. You can carryon ur notes using other clients too. 5. Lastly you can create a lightning wallet address and transact zaps ( sats). They can essentially work as incentives for people to post better content. For example, you can post a video here instead of on YouTube. You can expect to be zapped by people directly instead of a corporate like google paying you by collecting revenue from ads. 6. …… that’s all I know.
First: It is not a platform. I would advice trying out another client, will help to get that point across. I see you use primal now, use Damus if you are on ios, or amethyst if you are on android. Second: I see you mentioning the lack of algo, this is not the case, it is just that there is no such thing as a common default algorithm at applies to everyone, people can apply any algo that is available/imaginable. Third: perhaps this helps. Primal renders it weird (puts all the videos on the bottom instead of inside the text where they belong to make sense, so try viewing it in another app) View quoted note → For the record, i dont really care about your cause.
