Hello high IQ nostr plebs. I saw this tweet and it reminded me of our nostr bubble. We cannot underestimate how cognitively slow the average joe is. People using nostr are mostly above average iq plebs interested in tech and smart enough to realise the current system setup doesn’t work. I guess my point is nostr apps need be dumbed down for morons if adoption is the goal. I do like the “keep nostr weird” mantra though. Maybe it’s better being weird and difficult to onboard. image

But if we all stuck in the bubble then we will never really understand how to explain it to a 5 year old. There’s many times where I think I have clearly explained a concept concisely as possible. Then my friend will just say he pretended to understand what I was saying. Be simple and basic still confuses cognitive on slower people. I don’t know what the solution is. Indoctrination camps hahah 😂

As long as we support relays and creators and the best posts with zaps, I see no reason to dumb down nostr, even for it to survive. Sure UX and the protocol can improve and always is. But a supportive, intelligent niche userbase is a legitimate long term survival strategy. K versus R selection. We don't really need to repeat the eternal september of the internet in Nostr to succeed. Your facebook, twitter, reddit friends can stay where they are, interact with them there, keeping the quality of signal high on Nostr.
Before you cancel me you need to hear me out. Right now Nostr is a bitcoin circlejerk. When people come here all they see is bitcoin, bitcoin and more bitcoin. I don't disagree with your mission and the mission of bitcoin but at some point it gets old and annoying for the average Joe. People already hate crypto with all the scams and rug pulls. The bitcoin part of Nostr pushes people away. They hear bitcoin and they are immediatley scared.

That's just a reflection of your own follow thread. Add a new account and add people from global who are not bitcoiners. There are tons. Artists, creatives, writters, religious, cranks. It's all there. Freedom entails responsibility, if you are not adjusting the signal you are receiving in a constructive way, such as subcribing to people you disagree with. That's on you.
Yes, there are peoples with different topics but they aren't tons. Some time ago I made a thread on 4chan about nostr and all the replies were something in the lines of "Bitcoin circlejerk. Fuck off" or "Buy an ad". As I have said, when people get on nostr the first thing they see is bitcoin and they get scared.
Oh yeah, and let's not forget the thousands of posts of japanese people or chinese people

Quite easy going downhill. Social media is going downhill fast.
