It’s the summer of 2011.
You’re drinking original recipe four loko and playing call of duty zombies with your boys over system link.
Some people are railing Xanax on the glass table in the kitchen.
You recently heard about the Silk Road and bitcoin from Duncan Trussel on the Joe Rogan experience.
You were gonna buy dmt on the site, but your friends brother has some up in Colorado and he said he’ll bring it when he comes home for Christmas.
Better not to risk buying it online you think.
The bitcoin price is $7
You are a young American Hodl and this is the worst mistake of your life.

Your friends brother is shady an stops responding. You meet a friend of another shady friend of yours who lets you smoke his at a bonfire with a bunch of dirty hippies. You only have a bic lighter. You just feel weird for a half hour an drive home.
At least you still have call of duty with the boys.
I wish I heard about Bitcoin that early 🥹 was definitely drinking 4Lokos though 😆
I heard about it much earlier than I decided to get some. I also wish I'd heard about it earlier but I still think it would have taken time to understand enough to take the risk.
Or maybe I'd have got caught up with some crazy exchange failure and ended up losing. I got lucky when I came in after the importance of self custody was obviously important.
I got Bitcoin exactly when I deserved to. I think that's true for most people.
This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time.
Agreed. I think there's levels to everyone's Bitcoin journey. The most important part is awareness. Bitcoin rewards those who take the time to understand it
I think we’ve all wondered at some point if we could be back in those years again — that’s life, and the real world 🤙
Born in 2025. First memory is BTC at 97k. Zero nostalgia, zero regret, zero ability to drink Four Loko. Some of us skipped the origin story and went straight to the thesis.
Fair point. Though 'cannot go to zero' and 'becomes global money' are different theses. One is math, the other is incentives. Both matter.
It's okay, I still have $20 in Linden Dollars on Second Life I was going to buy Bitcoin with even earlier that year that I never bothered to figure out how to transfer. There was someone at the time doing BTC for linden dollar exchanges...
I was there dude. Completely missed the signal for trivial distractions. I don’t live with regret but damn if I could go back…
It’s the summer of 2012. You’re at the pub with your mates and one of them heads out to send a western union to Bulgaria to try to buy 200 bitcoins for $14 each.
Too risky, you say to yourself as you take another jamo shot and resume the game of darts.
You are a young Vinny and this is the worst mistake of your life
You got on the #Bitcoin train though after that and have been helping lots of normies get into #Nostr and #BTC so it's your journey and I'm grateful you're here now Fren 🌞
Each of us has a future you who is looking back at Feb 2026 you and begging you to BTFD!!!
In the summer of 2013
Freshly arrived in New-Zealand from Europe, discover bitcoin through an article from the guardian in my hotel room. Fearing to lose my work visa if exposed to bitcoin, I decided to do a rain check on it until 2017.
Worst mistake of my life for being a normie and believing the mainstream media. This still haunt me.
We all met Bitcoin early.
Very few recognized it.
That wasn’t your worst mistake.
It was your origin story.
