Just finished this book about Facebook’s early days. It was fun/appalling hearing many stories behind the scenes. Couldn’t imagine being in Zuck’s shoes. The power that he amassed put him in increasingly difficult scenarios. The company went from being super idealistic to quite predatory. I can’t help but wonder how different history would be if Facebook was open source, built on open protocols. https://www.audible.com/pd/B0DZ8PC43P?source_code=ASSORAP0511160006&share_location=library_overflow nostr:nevent1qqsgtpqe4ugaznq9e2lyyxj4ukz2csk7ydcsv62hc26r2v2gngqn7vcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhg9wyr8v

As far as NOSTR goes, I think we would still have NOSTR if we didn't have Facebook. NOSTR is more based off of Twitter than Facebook and Facebook was still university students only until 2006 when Twitter was rolled out. So, regardless of whether or not Facebook existed, Twitter still would have existed. Given that Twitter is, to some extent, the model for NOSTR, and given that Twitter became so corrupt, I think NOSTR still would have manifested even if Facebook never did.
