There's no conflict in being a principled fanatic. Just ask your local jihadi.
I'm becoming fanatical about the Kingdom of God. I've rejected and renounced all oaths made to my country and only claim citizenship in God's kingdom. Human government is anathema to Christendom. I will direct my future endeavors towards breaking dependency on the evil slave systems so that if I am ever blessed with children of my own, they can live free of the shackles that bound me and my previous geberations.
Nutty? Maybe, but this is a better way to live in this increasingly awful place, as I will not comply with the system.

Being principled is to be rational. Fanaticism is irrational. You can't be a rational irrational.
