I feel that way about anything that isn't Graphene or GNU/Linux. It's interesting how people differ that way. Although, I am open to trying new things that meet the same criteria. Just haven't found anything else that does yet. Having options is healthy.
So I’ve been hearing. Now everyone just has to configure their… β€’Β Public Outbox/Home Relays β€’Β Public Inbox Relays β€’Β DM Inbox Relays β€’Β Private Home Relays β€’ Proxy Relays β€’ Broadcast Relays β€’ Indexer Relays β€’ Search Relays β€’ Local Relays β€’ Trusted Relays β€’ Blocked Relays Piece of cake, right? What are people so confused about?
Funny thing I only felt shouting to the void when using the β€œbig networks” but not on nostr, each and every single one of its 30 users reply back and we all can have amazing conversations (and flamewars 😏) without stupid bots and algorithms getting in the way. Quality over quantity, something something.

The point of outbox is that all of the other lists are optional. Set YOUR outbox and everyone you follow has their outbox relays dynamically served to you. If you want to do a blast broadcast, specify a proxy relay, or makesure your DMs go through a specific relay, THAT is when it gets complicated because you are a power user. Those toggles aren't for the average user. Literally selecting default relays works for 99% of people.
If that’s true, maybe the app should be clear about this, because if I were a new user, it would confuse the hell out of me, and even as someone who has used Nostr clients for 3 years, it’s way more than I want to or should need to think about. The UX could be instantly improved by hiding all of those other options in an β€œAdvanced Relay Settings” page.

I mean, Amethyst is marketed as "a client with everything" it is for the power user. It literally describes each relay function in grey right below the title. I'm not sure this is "more than I want to or should need to think about." If you don't want to think about it, hit "default" and never worry about it. If you want to adjust things then do so.

Yeah, but also, nobody reads anymore so there's a bit of user error involved. When things aren't intuitive (like brand new ways of serving data) sometimes you have to read a 2 sentence summary instead of having flashy "Do it for me" buttons. Everything is a tradeoff. New awesome stuff but you have to read; your notes don't reach their audience but you don't have to read. 🀷
Many have defaults you can set. Some are optional. All have text describing what they do.

Don’t say this out loud! Not allowed here. You will learn to code, make your own client, AND configure all of your own relays after you set up your own, as well as your own blossom server. And if your key leaks, well, you’re just an idiot then.

You could have Amethyst only chat rooms and everyone would be galaxy 🧠
Well setting aggr as proxy did not end well. I cannot see on Amethyst any new notes, and relay manager does not allow me to remove aggr from proxies. I am writting this from iris ...
Still the same, last note is from 15h ago. When I open relay menu I see this kind of notices: , NOTICE: Subscription closed: 2Z8Nsj auth-required: auth required for aggregator. Is authentication maybe not working?
