Personally I'd publish any legal threat. I wouldn't publish a friendly but misguided request. The letter was formulated as a legal threat, implying legal threats could follow, but was actually just a misguided request. It makes both sides of the argument understandable.

I get that the idea here was to scould the person for sending "a threat," but that could have easily been done by redacting his clear name and just letting his npub / handle be public. Literally zero point in doxxing the guy besides being an asshole.
the context is much more specific than “you told them”. it’s “you told them because you had to tell them to exercise your threat of violence”. it feels like much more of a grey area than you are making out.

Second, and I find it very concerning that this seems to be news to you, *publicly posting someones name on the internet* that *wasn't known before* – esp someone who *is public about his interests in bitcoin* – puts this person at serious risk of *actual violence* –> e.g. someone coming to your house and cutting your fingers off or kidnapping your family.
Honestly appalling to even attempt to be making a comparison here between sending someone *an email* and putting that person's life in *actual danger* and then going on to call that "a grey area."
