We have to annually declare our residency (i.e., our house is not available for AirBnB rental), otherwise we get hit with a ‘vacant unit tax’ and a potential $10,000 fine if the declaration is not accurate.

Considering that Spanish people are very much family people and that they're known to take care of their elders etc, this is wild. I have a LOT of friends who live with their FAMILY.
