Most humans throughout history lived under empires. These empires viewed ethnic diversity as an asset or not worth bothering themselves about. The Ottoman Empire, the Roman Empire, the Austro-Hungarian empire were all multi ethnic states. Even in pre industrial Europe you would be hard pressed to find anything closely resembling an ethnostate. The French peasants all spoke local dialects, merchants a more universal version and their rulers (who wouldn’t even necessity be French)spoke Latin. The concept of nationalism is modern and has been used by the state to make retards go to war.
Did all the ethnicities within those empires have the same rights?
Simple question. Yes or no?
It’s not simple because each of those empires had different systems. The Roman system was really more about citizen vs non citizen. Ethnic minorities from conquered peoples could earn citizenship through military service.
The ottomans had special taxes for non Muslims but they also exempted the Jews from military service.
But again. They were multiethnic states. You are attempting once again to change the subject because you are wrong again. The modern concept of a nation as a monolithic group of people is not the historical norm. And despite what that other retard in this thread said the genetic blending is quite clear in the records.
Oh ok so if I said "Chinese person"
You just picture a stick figure in your head?
Or maybe if I said "Italian"
You'd have no idea what that person might look like or sound like when they speak?
There are no defining qualities to these people because there were no majority groups in any of those places that reproduced with other people who also had similar genetic makeup? Is that what you're saying?
There's no such thing as any ethnic group cause it's always been multicultural societies everywhere without dominant cultures or genetic backgrounds?
That's sort of a weird theory you have going there especially since you yourself identified as having any sort of a distinct ancestry. You'd think if you truly believed the things you're saying that you'd also know that you yourself have no ancestry at all and the world is and always was a melting pot with no distinct people at all ever.
