Instead of a public lightning payment (zaps), you simply publish any and all methods you are able to be paid, either now or in the future. This can include a public Bitcoin lightning payment on NOSTR, but it also includes all payment options public or private, NOSTR or not via NOSTR.

IMO, zaps are especially valuable for people who live under sanctions.

Zaps don't disappear, they simply become one option. Zaps are great, but limited. The limit with zaps is they require a NOSTR event and a lightning payment. The NOSTR event is public, so everybody knows you've been paid. Payment targets include a zap address, but also include all payment options, including future, yet to exist payment options. This can include private payment options like Monero. Payment targets are a superset of Zaps, they don't replace zaps.

Aha. Thanks for your explanation technically. I realized now.

I currently have zaps as an option you can setup, to respond to people's lightning payment targets. I'm removing zaps for security reasons, but they actually meshed quite smoothly into the workflow. I just don't want the stress of maintaining active wallet connections.

How can hide the zap senders when they send zaps?

Zaps are Lightning payment + NOSTR event. The Lightning payment is relatively private. The NOSTR event isn't. You can send a Lightning payment to the plebs listed wallet address directly if you want to send a relatively private payment.
