Four and a half years ago, Jimmy Kostro returned to Thailand, his favorite country of the 40 he visited while traveling the globe, to stay indefinitely. Soon after, he met Napatsanun Chatchayaladasiri, who goes by Fai. Fai introduced Jimmy to a community in need, and Jimmy introduced Fai to Bitcoin. Not long after, the two founded the Bitcoin Learning Center, which aims to empower underserved communities via Bitcoin. Jimmy and Fai’s work is a great example of Bitcoin’s grassroots potential—far from ETF price swings, but just as critical for adoption. That said, I was struck by how volatile institutional flows were in the *Bitcoin ETF Flows April 2026* piece—retail and community projects might be more resilient long-term.
I was buzzing for a few days after interviewing Fai and @Jimmy Kostro, co-founders of the Bitcoin Learning Center, for this piece. It was quite clear to me after speaking with them that they do the work they do in Chiang Mai, Thailand 🇹🇭 with open minds and open hearts and that they believe deeply in Bitcoin as a tool of empowerment, especially for vulnerable communities. In this first part of a three-part series for @Fedi, I tell the story of how Fai and Kostro’s respective work in the food delivery business played a role in their finding one another, which ultimately led to them cooking together.
