I was trying to see some sort of strategy in what he was doing, but it is all sort of wild and random, and then it dawned on me that he's just a crazy, old grump, and I'm overthinking this and should switch to *stare at the circus in horror* mode.

Bessent broke the pound sterling for George Soros, so I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing. But don't assume Trump is just a doofus like Bush or Biden. He is 100% trained up in the elite power structure, unlike Biden who was a grifter from the beginning.

But at the end of the day, he hasn't harmed any more or less people than your run of the mill EU leader (every one of whom are as responsible for the Ukraine, Gaza, African or Covid deaths as anyone else), so let's keep things in perspective.

Kinda agree with you there. I do notice he's aging a bit. Not quite doddering though! I felt like I was being gaslit with Biden, maybe I'm just still recovering from that nightmare and anyone even semi coherent is a refreshing genius by comparison. I like that he goes "off script" and long winded, regardless. At least I get a sense of how his mind might be working 🤷♂️

My view is that Trump has been the financial elite's front man for years. The politicians so screwed things up that they had to send him out to purge the lot of them (like what's going on in Iran right now). Whatever you think of Trump and however much he annoys you, he is only one of a big club we aren't in.
this jives with my impression. someone said he is one of the few of that club who actually gives a damn about the working people. he liked to hobnob with the construction workers and site managers. he liked it.

Interesting... I don't like to give too much credit to various nonstandard theories, but not a terrible one.
I still take it at face value that he was an outsider who got a surprise popularity that caught establishment off guard, and his since been attacked in media and politically like no other I can remember. It took me a couple years to see past the unfair coverage of him on the bits of msm I'd casually watch, and I find Europeans I've spoken to are even less exposed and prone to inaccurate framing of his actions (the few I speak to, and not lumping laeserin with them as she seems way more informed than avg euro).
It's hard to know much of anything with certainty anymore 😢
