One problem I notice is the number of bot accounts. I think some of the work around new relays and filtering is trying to improve that side of Nostr. But I think there is another problem that matters just as much. Nostr needs to feel consistent across clients. If I post something on Nostrich I should be able to open Primal or Nostr.app or Ditto and see the same post there. If I delete a comment I should expect it to disappear everywhere instead of wondering which relay or client still has it. Most new users will not care why a relay did not receive an event or why a deletion request was ignored. They will simply think the app is broken. I also do not think most people will join because we tell them Nostr is decentralized. They need a reason to stay. I would make Nostr almost invisible at first. Let people find communities around things they already enjoy. Make onboarding and key backup simple. Let them discover relays and Lightning later. The bold idea for me is to stop selling Nostr as a protocol and start building things people would want even if they had never heard the word Nostr before. Then make the experience between clients reliable enough that they do not need to understand the protocol just to use it.
