The local and state authorities are the one’s defrauding the federal government to the tune of billions. That’s on the people, it was on our watch that we let the foxes into the the hen house. We put corrupt politicians into positions of power. so we don’t get to act surprised. On the practical matter, I’m not sure fiat penalties would produce the desired effect. On the matter of principle, neither your nor I would apply that principle to our house. Most of the immigration laws have been on the books since Clinton.
