I have been running an LN node for almost 4 years, and still counting. Observation is simple, very few individuals (not orgs) can or will run LN nodes reliably or for extended periods. I’ve seen hundreds of nodes die and perish to never be seen again. If you are a capable person and have some cash to put in danger, join our ranks, be reckless

It’s on the to do list ✅
I’m earning about 10,000 sats per month. Not bad at all
Not bad, but doesn’t cover the electricity costs probably. Still fun to run 🫂🫡⚡️
I gave up :( you’d think by now we’d have way better tooling but no…
Mine had some issues a few days ago and I almost got to the point of shutting it down..!
Oh no! 😥
Nearly 4 years running a Lightning Node myself. It's a BTCPay Server being hosted for free in the OCI cloud using LND. If it wasn't for free hosting, I'd shut it down a long time ago.
Yes, I like good posts on this topic. It is a sovereign endeavor. Yes, I have been running mine on my Sovran Pro for years too. It just takes some patience and know how. Just like any thing important.
Ran one for 2 years. It’s a labor of love 😂 Running one yourself, even with just a few small channels, is a great way to learn and see lightning’s potential. And makes it more clear when running one for yourself makes sense, and when it’s overkill. 😂
Reliability like a well-fed carnivore, strong and resilient.
It's not worth the effort or resources if you have to connect your personal node to one of the big nodes ran by some KYC Bitcoin company to be able to route payments successfully. It's a central point of failure.
I cheat with Alby Hub so it doesn't really count. Local node running on my Debian PC, but a lot of the setup is automated for me. Less diy.
True. Alby works. Even old guys can do it.
Best part for me by simply checking Alby on my phone: I immediately verify my whole set-up: ✅alby✅lightening node✅bitcoin core node✅start9✅router✅✅internet✅power to citadel...
Are all online. Its a beautiful thing
