Ultimate control is transactional control. The highest expression of that would be a CBDC. You owe a fine or taxes? We'll just take it from your balance. We want to limit your travel? Your money only works inside your city. We want to control your rate of spending? Interest rates are so last century, we'll just put a expiration date on your money. If we want to ban certain things we will just turn off transactions. We can limit or eliminate guns, pornography, alcohol, meat according to the date, area of the country, or by citizen.

now imagine that even if you were a good citizen and if you comply with everything, but in any case they decide to take money from you just because they wanted to earn a few million more.
You will have to show what terrible people you are and come kill me and take my #Monero out of my cold dead hands.
People will resist. They'll use Bitcoin. They'll trade goods. They'll go off-grid. Control only works if people comply. So the real question isn't what they can do. It's how much we'll let them.
Most people will go along. They'll first capture people into their CBDC and after that very slowly introduce these sick constraints like a frog in a boiling pot. The only way is to live somewhere CBDCs are not used, in my opinion.

LoL thanks for the laugh. Love reading these takes as though it doesn't already happen. CBDCs would be in effect directly issued central bank currency without institutional or retailer banking. Great. Cut out the banks and their fees. Last I checked, you can only use currency in certain locale so what are you really crying about?
