So how possible would it be for a complete noobie to break in on something like this? Is the field only looking for senior devs?
Not limited to senior devs! If youโ€™re serious about leveling up, Chaincode will provide you with all the resources you need. You do the work but they give you the path and support for success. Itโ€™s truly unlike any program out there. If this was around in 2016 when I started paying attention to bitcoin, I would have joined the world of bitcoin open source (BOSS, because bitcoin + FOSS = BOSS) much, much sooner. I still made it, but it took me a lot longer to find my way ๐Ÿ˜„ (my first job at a bitcoin company was early 2019). Like much of open source, for the BOSS program, attitude and willingness to do the work are valued more than experience.
I think it all depends on the person. If you are interested, @Bitcoin Dev Project has a free Intro to Rust course, made for bitcoiners: I wouldnโ€™t let a limited knowledge of c++ or rust hold you back if the program is something you are enthusiastic about. You could always start it and take a step back if the time commitment is too much.
