Listning to #Monero talk and think these fools should embrace #nostr more.
They are using twitch, YouTube, Facebook and whatsapp ... Because e.g. rumble is too complicated for them.
Maybe someone has connections and can show them how to use sovereign tools ๐

Sounds like privacy isn't that important after all.
Xactly my thoughts. ๐ง
theres enough team monero on here
maybe its something else
If Rumble is too complicated, Nostr won't work for them. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
On the contrary, here I have met more genuine Monero Cypherpunks than on Shitwitter, and I can communicate with them without shadow bans. The OP, however, has only watched this idiotic Doug fellow and has formed an equally idiotic, prejudiced opinion. Although such idiocy would be expected from a Bitcoin zealot.
@npub1ge0t...jcs3 is here on Nostr and he cohosts often. He often tries to get the others on Nostr but the main pushback seems to be that theres no reach here which is pretty reasonable IMO.
Care to weigh in, @npub1ge0t...jcs3?
There is a perpetual battle as a privacy enthusiast about how to reach out to normie people. If you only insist on Signal or SimpleX you'll find you talk to nearly nobody. If Monero went all Nostr and SimpleX group chats it would easily damage our network effect and reach.
We gotta have those who are willing to take the message to public forums where the masses are.
KYC surveillance platforms like Twitter are no different than going out in public and doing a news interview for instance, or doing a presentation at work. As long as you've properly segmented your software lives and wish to have aspects of your life be public, then it's a good thing to spread the message about Monero on public forums.
I'd argue the strong privacy focus in the community is actually one of our greatest weaknesses in growing the community. I know I for one aren't on any social media platforms save for as an anon on Nostr, and only try to tell people about Monero IRL. I found that 99% of people haven't even heard of it, while they know of Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP.
Xenu is here too.
LoL. Don't get angry or sad ProfAnarch... Even a 'Bitcoin zealot' can use privacy tools like Monero and point out others idiotic behaviour sometimes.
A double-edged sword situation.
Yeah but he said it himself he doesn't like Nostr and joined reluctantly. Hes been a guest a few times on Monerotopia but I don't think he cohosts, shortwave cohosts maybe 1/4 of the episodes.
Yeah it's like a huge internal battle for me. Even on the latest Monero Monthly podcast by @Ungovernable Misfits (RSS Feed) they had FluffyPony on and he was saying how you gotta just concede and meet people where they are and use WhatsApp or whatever if the choice is either that or not talking with them.
Its difficult too then because as we're in the know of the vulnerabilities of those platforms, you constantly feel like you have to self monitor when talking to others there.
