I would say that it's might also be Catholic social teaching that everyone should get the chance to have their case heard, before deportation, as there might be extenuating circumstances. And we're supposed to avoid scandal, which is the opposite of driving around in these bling-bling SUVs and acting like Rambo. Before Trump II, the immigration department was highly discrete, but he wants them to be "seen", for political reasons.

I say this out of love and with the utmost respect for you: that doesn’t make any sense. The do have due process. They aren’t not just grabbing random people and throwing them into exile. They have to detain them, there is no “asking nicely” And an extenuating circumstance as to why they are here illegally, what? Enforcing the law cannot be “scandalous” that stretches the term beyond the point of breaking. Is it uncomfortable and unfortunate, yes, and much more. But these are the lines of civilization, and it’s just the messy part of our finitude. If you want to say you don’t like how they are doing this or that, how it looks or makes people feel, that’s just rhetorical signalling, and has nothing to do with the principles in play. It’s better to have the men in positions of authority exercise their power in an attempt to preserve the lines and rule of law than to abondon the hope of civilized society altogether. They are the ones in the arena, and I don’t envy them. I’ve fought in wars, i know what it’s like to patrol the streets of baghdad. At least then the environment was less complicated. This chaos is insane. But we are going to have to slog though.
