stable active user count of ~18k is good, as long as it's not bots?
How can we decipher between real and fake accounts? Could only be like 400 of us here or something lol
Nostr seems really dead for like a week now.
Somehow they make sure those accounts are good on stats.nostr.band
Nobody will want to invest/continue investment in Nostr if user growth is absent.
This shit no longer cool. Now it has swear bots that arrass everyone who says shit or fuck or cunt or whatever. Lots of pussies up in this bitch, and not the good kind!
agreed - and main stream social media is pretty entrenched in society, not only in the 'social community' aspects of internet communities, but also integrations like login and account management into a whole range of services that people use daily online.
Moving away from that known process is actually very daunting for normal folk, especially if you use "login with Facebook" and that kind of crap - it would mean changing your entire digital life to realign with this sovereign aspect.
So it gonna be really hard - but if the protocol is in place, and we have multiple clients and apps, then there will most likely be another censorship concern that will drive user numbers.
After all, Bitcoin in the early days was quiet AF, but the infrastructure was there for it to explode.
I was chatting to some friends about this. They're pretty normie but we started speaking about digital identity and digital ownership and how that's always been a thing in cryptography - and how things shifted from the 'honeymoon' phase of the early 2010's - when everyone was sending Vines and shit and stuff on social media felt 'good' and you wanted to actually try out some new platform.
But since 2020, that shit 180'ed and it's more vital these days to have your own ownership and identity online, not just from a ID perspective, but also with the advent of AI and data gathering, actually commoditising and owning your data (equity)
