An HWW and @npub17tyk...3mgl serve very different purposes.
They can, and should coexist.
The only “threat” here is to the sales gotten from people that were buying HWWs for the wrong reasons.

If you have a HWW that's not a SeedSigner you should definitely buy a SeedSigner to help you verify shit as a double check, especially when upgrading the HWWs firmware.
HWW vendors like to make claims about “open source” but most of them are never truly verifiable, since there is boot ROM and other components not included in the source, or that could be tampered with without noticing
