Found this post by @Nicolas Burtey on Xitter today and it just shows how much noise there is out there. Bitcoin transactions per attendee tell us about the quality of the crowd that attends these conferences. Sometimes we get blinded by the shiny lights and big names but forget that NGU is not what matters. We need to live by our words and beliefs. I am also beyond proud to see how one of the smallest conferences in Europe, Baltic Honeybadger by @Hodl Hodl, has the highest number of transactions per attendee. Even prouder to work with and call my best friend, the mastermind behind this conference, @Anna ⚡️ and to have done the same set up for @npub1h493...4cwz with her. All of these conferences are organized by bitcoiners who do this because they clearly see the importance of leading by example. Like Anna, @André Loja, @Martin Kuchar, and @Matyas Kuchar are good people who put in the PoW to ensure their cities learn about and use #bitcoin. Great job, guys 👏! I want to be like all of you when I grow up! Number of Transactions per Attendee Bitcoin Atlantis vs Bitcoin 2.917 > 0.03835 @BTC Prague vs. Bitcoin 2024 0.728 > 0.03835 Baltic Honeybadger vs. Bitcoin 2024 4.907 > 0.03835 image

Wow 👀 that’s wild
This is embarrassing, but is proof of what we’ve known all along. The majority of these people are fiat maxis. Glad to be on Nostr alongside a wonderful distillation of bitcoiners who truly believe in freedom.
The sentiment makes sense, but the data to support it seems weak. Almost feels Keynesian to me to be willing to support our talking points and ideas with knowingly poor data. - Where is it coming from? - What kinds of transactions is it missing?
Bolt cards are a great option for buyers to not have to depend on cellphones but the POS needs an internet connection for sure
I’m sorry I’m not understanding your question? These data comes from the case studies that were provided after the conferences. These is all auditable information. I can safely say that for Bitcoin Atlantis and BH2023 you can check BTCPay Servers case studies. The information from the Bitcoin conference was provided by Strike
Just that conflating "transactions per attendee on the recommended platform we track" with the "quality of the crowd" is little disingenuous. it's a small sample of all the transactions happening during the conference. And it says more about how good a job the organizer did with onboarding the beer & coffee vendors than anything else. It's a good direction, but I wouldn't overfocus on this metric.
This doesn’t reflect at all in the quality of your job or BTCPay’s. Everything from the bolt cards from my pleb tag, the PoS machines, the plug ins, the software is perfection and it shows the hard work you and the whole team puts in.
The fact remains that there is zero mention of the year+ of hard work everyone from the @BTCPay Server team has put in to make this happen ... coding, marketing, ops... tying all the pieces together. This without even getting into securing the budget to cover the costs for the hardware you reference.
Did not mean to make it sound like you were not there. You know I am super proud and admire so much the work the whole @npub155m2...dcvg team does. And in several other posts I’ve shown that appreciation.
At the bitcoin conference, it was crazy how many individuals didn’t accept bitcoin and only credit card.
far too many people guard their bitcoin like a jealous dragon. we need a stronger movement encouraging #spendandreplace
