"our new corporate balance sheet dollar cost average (β€œDCA”) program, under which each month we will be investing 10% of Block’s monthly gross profit from bitcoin products into purchases of bitcoin for investment" Nice.

View quoted note β†’ β€œWe view bitcoin as an instrument of global economic empowerment; it is a way for individuals around the world to participate in a global monetary system and secure their own financial future. We’ve chosen to open source this documentation to clearly articulate the process behind our purchase as others consider similar moves."
There's a footnote at the bottom of the second page that says for April the total purchased was $4.4 million, and I'd imagine that's a usual month.

My bad, 10% of all bitcoin related gross profit, not total gross profit. Still awesome though!
great said πŸ«‚ "We believe the world needs an open protocol for money, one that’s not owned or controlled by any single entity," Dorsey said in the note.

Just out of curiosity: what’s the main reason for only starting with this now?
Looking at this cause I’m studying financial accounting at the moment. Sort of get this now. Bitcoin is defined as an indefinite-lived intangible asset and falls under Intangibles - Goodwill on a balance sheet. Cool, that means you can’t separate it from Block, it is embedded and part of its soul:) Fair value is gonna change heaps though.
