I don't know how people are getting this concept confused? One is selling a product or service for a price. The other is giving it away for free (where the consumer or user can pay if they desire). They're not even close to the same concept.

And either method, or even a combination of both, can work for monetizing digital content. These are valid conversations and considerations for any digital content creator in 2026. People get hung up on “muh memes” but this is a much larger conversation in scope.
