Included inside this basket will be a booklet bound by a single ring with a page dedicated to each merchant with an item inside. If you choose to gift one of the items, you can remove the page corresponding to that merchant and include it with your gift. So the recipient will have context on the merchant, what makes the produce in their hand special, a website, and even a QR code leading to their Nostr profile. Maybe, if their interest is peaked, maybe they'll be encouraged to check out Nostr and make a few zaps...or buy more of what they got with Bitcoin. Just maybe. View quoted note →

Happy Thanksgiving!! And a special thanks to all the vendors working with me on our upcoming WAGMI Holiday Gift Basket. It's got 12 items made by merchants on Nostr who accept Bitcoin. The coolest part of it IMO is you can give any of these items to someone and be confident it will improve their lives. No seed oils, no toxic ingredients, no compromises. And you know what? I didn't have to pick and choose these merchants. Everyone on here is just like this by default. It feels magical and underappreciated. My hope is that these baskets spread the incredible spirit of this community through tangible goods that make peoples' lives better. Let's show our family and friends that Bitcoin and Nostr are more than nerdy technologies with idealistic goals. All items are finally in-hand. I'm finalizing packaging, a point-of-sale system, and some other details. Baskets will be available for purchase very soon 🤠 image

The dollar is the end of the line for fiat currencies and fiat life. Maybe that's why in vim the dollar symbol takes you to...the end of the line. image

Really wished zapsnags and/or some kind of native Nostr way of selling stuff worked more reliably. Feels superfluous (but also necessary) to create a whole new separate e-commerce flow from scratch merely to use the same Lightning infrastructure I'm already using for zaps on Nostr.

50-year mortgages and 15-year car loans aren't surprising when financing basic consumer products over many months has been happening for years now. What struck me about this ad is that they're saying there's a sale but don't even mention the actual price...highlighting only the monthly installment amount. Are these pay-over-time arrangement things really that prevalent?? 😬 image

Had to be away for a few days unexpectedly. ICKNO suffered. I'm sorry. In the mean time I've expanded vendors I'm tracking to include home improvement items, furniture, and more meat. Updates on the gift basket coming soon. Most items received, but a couple of stragglers still stuck in USPS hell 🤡

Ice Cream for Bears was one of my favorite Nostr discoveries...I want to say @npub155c0...dfkh was the one who posted about it but it's been a while so I could be wrong. Went out and got every flavor the next day and loved all of them haha. View quoted note →

Last Christmas I received a gift basket from a company I work with. It was a nice gesture, and it was full of sample-size packs of things that (5 years ago) I would have enjoyed. Crackers, cookies, honey, mustard, pretzels, and 10 other items I can't remember. But this time, I couldn't eat a single one of those things. Everything had seed oils, refined flour, refined sugar, fillers, preservatives, or some other junk in it. Wish I had taken a picture of it but at the time it seemed so unmemorable that I didn't see the point 😂 That junk was better off in the trash than anyone's stomach. This year, I'm working with a dozen of the best merchants here on Nostr to make a Nostr+Bitcoin Only Gift Basket. And you know what? Every single thing in this basket is the exact opposite—NOT shitty. Great, in fact. Great for you, and great for everyone you care about. Great for your health, wellness, mind, and body. Stuff you can give without guilt. Incentivized by the hardest money ever and the freest media ever. It's interesting how the default here is to not be shitty. Funny how incentives work. Final details being worked out now. Can't wait to share more soon. (yes this is the announcement of an announcement)

What's the best book to introduce someone to Bitcoin? Something simple and approachable? Childrens' book ideas also welcome. There's The Little Bitcoin Book from a few years ago but I wonder if anything else has come out since then.
