Shoutout to the nostriches who show love for the fact I actually made a version of #wisp with signers and local relays for the power users that is stable, free and available to everyone forever and won't be enshittifyied.
It's called version 1.0.5 and you can get it on GitHub.
Shoutout to the haters too even tho most of y'all are BLOCKED gfy

Im yet to use it. But I do trust you. Have a great day.
Will report back, eventually.
Send it π
Bringing local relays to Makueni.π°πͺ This is exactly the kind of un-enshittifiable sovereignty we need out here.
Testing v1.0.5 immediately, shoutout from the ground. π€
Hmmmm. I might hafta read some code later.
I thought you came down on the side of Normies Only version with a few, less enshitified toggles?
Am I gonna have to main Wisp again?
Uh, I need to check that out. Appreciate you as always!
The new versions of wisp are enshitifed (from the perspective of weird nostr people) - but you can just not update it and it works perfectly
But yes I want to build a nice normie client now, just be happy I also made a cool version for all of us that everyone can still use nobody is forcing updates here pls sir
But I heard that security updates... Something, something, ...vulnerabilities in running OLD code!
The OS takes care of all/most of that, then your signer will protect you on top... And if anything seriously breaks I will patch it
Was there Tor support on 1.0.5? I felt like there was. Can't find it now.
Are the new changes to Wisp incompatible with the Wisp 1.0.5 version, would they cause issues with signers?
It's like winamp 2
Yes the new versions of wisp don't support signers, only 1.0.5 and below
you should make this βwisp classicβ
personally everyone I introduced to Wisp was furious with the changes you made. But I can also see the merit of them, and I support your attempt to make Nostr viable for the average Joe β itβs a far more important effort than anything else to try to onboard low-information users to Nostr. A Wisp Classic with signers, local relays, no google integration, and no algorithmic feed is the way. Maybe you can draft some of the malcontents to maintain it.
I really thought at least one person would have forked by now, maybe we're all playing chicken because they know I will eventually make such a version
Call it Wisp+, so the normies using Wisp will be tempted to βupgradeβ and learn a thing or two (or three or four orβ¦) in the process.
No⦠Wisp Gold
Wisp Diamond? Wisp Platinum? Vibranium? Unobtainium? Argh, just make it sound expensive to lure them in.
Appreciate you sir!
Think you are actually one of the good ones out there (I responded to a note earlier from someone claiming @jb55 was)
Is that because of some new feature though that breaks compatability with signers, or are signers a pain to deal with, just curious why it was dropped
Pain to deal with
Does it also run on iOS? Or is it irrelevant for iOS because they don't have local relays and signers, anyway?
Oh, wait, I forget that the iOS branch is off the newest version. Nevermind.
Ah, you have large text option! Very nice because I just accidentally killed my PWA building the library module and I don't have time to fix it because I leave for Prague tomorrow. π
using wisp for a few days now β¦ it is impressive what you have build

i just updated to this shitty new ios just so i can raw dog my fucking nsec into wisp and check it out
