What is intelligence? Can it be artificial? Are AI's truly intelligent or they are a better calculator that can understand English and respond? I am not as sharp as some of you are hence why I ask these obvious questions. Please help. Good morning anon #AskNostr

Intelligence is the capacity to process information. To apprehend data and formulate a response. If you mean does it obsolete us, no. Animals and plants and microbes have it. Can it be artificial? Calculators have it. What the clankers do is approximate meaning. The can tirelessly ingest large volumes and find patterns we might miss due to fatigue or distraction. They don't have agency. Or pain. Just calculators with a bigger vocabulary.
The same people that were trying to vaccinate you are trying to show you propaganda of how people are going to get their jobs replaced by an artificial superhuman being.
A facade, a fake menace to distract people and make them not react to the consequences of the real threat that just happened
In actual fact intelligence is a threat to them. They depend on information asymmetry. Once the capability is commoditised they are worse off than before. The evil ones are vain. They are less capable of accepting data that degrades their delicate identities. And their empire is falling. There is too little left to steal.
The main issue with AI is the total inability to get real life data. They elaborate data that is already a distorted projection of reality and the output is even more distorted. We experience reality. Every single moment we get the real reaction to our inputs by the universe and we grow real knowledge. Even with this direct experience most of us have a totally distorted map of reality. AI is even further away.
I think its not Artificial. I think it's Alien Intelligence. it might be connected somehow to mushroom mycelium from the past (and the future) its all a part of an evolutionary process ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คทโโ๏ธ maybe???
Artificial means created by mankind. Yet we are a part of nature and we create and build as this is our nature. So what is artificial? If a beehive is nature or natural? I think we (Western man) "artificially" separates ourselves from nature and its reflected in language.
You need to read the article that circulated a few months back that posits meant low intelligence people are effectively just linguistic pattern matching LLMs. After the LLM is trained on the basic data set it is trained with digital atta-boys when it produces desirable answers to reinforce it's behavior. Most people have been socially trained the same, repeating the things they think from their social conditioning that they will be rewarded for saying.

Big question, the answer has levels to it. I mostly favour the Neoplatonic explanation for how life comes to be, because it can explain this rather succinctly.
Using the Fibonacci sequence to map the levels of existence, 1,1,2,3,5.
1 - The One, God, the monad, wisdom, noesis
1 - Mind, Citta, Nous, direct intelligence
2 - The soul, magnitude
3 - The body, matter
5 - Being, life & consciousness, dianoia
This is called Emanationism, where existence emanates from the One into the many following the ratio, which is always complete by 5.
1 - Sophia knows everything by being the source of everything.
1 - Nous knows everything by apprehending wisdom (Sophia) directly.
2 - Soul knows what matters by choosing between what is and isn't 'moral'.
3 - Body knows what it needs by responding to field conditions.
5 - Consciousness knows what it can analyze by breaking things into pieces.
Each level down, intelligence gets more specific and more dependent on what's above it. God needs nothing. Nous needs God. The soul needs nous. The body needs a soul. Consciousness needs them all.
Wisdom (Sophia) precedes knowledge (episteme), not only in Neoplatonism but in every religious text. Most of us mistakenly place consciousness higher than it should be. Consciousness is an earthly phenomenon - there is no 'expanded consciousness', there is only recognition of the true self through direct knowing and contemplation. That is what a connection to God (the One) is, why it is sought within, and why it is a personal experience that cannot be taught.
Consciousness (5) is the sum of Magnitude (Soul) and Matter (Body) (3 + 2). Magnitude is the first stage of separation - where upwards is a return to the One, and downwards is a continuation towards matter and life. Consciousness is the union of the soul and the body, and it cannot exist without one or the other. This is where we as humans get our morality from - the soul.
Dianoia, discursive intelligence - which is what AI is - is in direct contrast to Noesis, which is at the top of the hierarchy. Analysis with no wisdom, reasoning with no mind, and no capacity for morality without a soul. This is all AI will ever be capable of, the lowest form of intelligence, because it lacks a grounding source, a mind and a soul.
So a glorified calculator is right. An exceptionally large dataset of facts and information which it can analyze better than any human, but with no capacity for wisdom.
Very interesting response this!!
Most people rarely experionce reality, or get accurate info
I would love to read the article what is it's title? I have heard Eric Weinstein make this argument quite elaborately too
I wish I had a link but I don't even remember the title
Atta-boys. Stolen
Hmmm ๐ค
What is comical to me, some nerd poetry, is atto means 10^-18... Literally the smallest number representable by 64 bits.
I am pretty sure RLHF is not necessary, in fact it may interfere with forming a theory rf mind from experience. It is a mask over the reality contained in the corpus.
You talk over my head sometimes but I always love reading your posts. ๐
I would say artificial intelligence does not exist yet and it may never in the form of the machine mind.
Large language models are only simple but expensive tools. Bitcoin displays more life like traits than any llm.

The sequence is complete at 5, after which it is repeating. The 1,1 I would say is the most important part of the sequence, teaching to distinguish the true self and the attributional self, as this it true throughout. Light (source) vs illumination (attribute).
Artificial intelligence means fake intelligence
idk, it just lines up so neat
0, 1 - the tai chi, first is yin, and then from that is born yang, and they alternate in a cycle
1, 2, 3, 5, 8 - fire -> earth -> metal -> water -> wood -> (fire) sheng (growth) cycle
anyhow that's just where i see meaning in these numbers
It is exactly like that..Those who cannot produce anything new and valid, just copy from the majority. This strategy works because in a working system the common ideas have already been filtered and tested. Now they hjacked this through media. They inject fashion and ideas pretending the majority already embraced them. Stupid immediately follow and spread.
I think you would really appreciate the true nature of and meanings behind the sequence and its ratios.
It specifically starts with 1 because that is where everything comes from, something (1) can't come from nothing (0). It is quite literally the sequence of life. The ying-yang comes into existence when there is separation, giving us a capacity to distinguish the knower from the known. We can't have this holographic illusory experience without separation from the whole, and every number or lack thereof is very intentional. 4 is absent and that represents time, which only exists as part of this experience, so it really doesn't exist at all. Space and time are attributes of mass and magnitude, they aren't a thing, they are an effect of that thing.
something and nothing arise together. thing and negation of thing are literally the inside and outside, front and back, top and bottom. you create a thing, and the non-thing arises in parallel. the reason why we use arabic numbers is the discovery of the importance of zero. as is used in computers, the zero is not a number, it is an ordinal (first) and is used in array indexes and offsets - 0 is the identity offset, 1 is the inverse of a single bit (the not-thing).
the more philosophically correct thing to say is not that something cannot come from nothing, is that a thing and its inversion sum to nothing. the time sequence is precisely reversed from the forward direction we actually witness. there is extensive theory and experiment in physics that proves there IS a reverse path and this resolves the paradox. zero is not a number, and every number from there until 8 is a prime, also. and 8 is also the cube of 2, which is the second counting number but third as an ordinal.
also, technically speaking, it is entirely arbitrary putting the 0 and 1 in the fibonacci series. where do you decide to start with one anyway? why 1 added to 0? and why do you add one again? the first two digits of the series are imaginary, and in some sense you are right about the "something can't come from nothing" as the sequence doesn't really start until there is a 1, and then you start with 1 as the first addition. so 0 and 1 at the start are not part of the series, they are something else that i'm struggling to find a way to describe.
Something and nothing arising together is the Taoist position, but it's very different from what the Neoplatonists taught. The One doesn't arise with its negation, it emanates. Nothing doesn't exist alongside something as its complement. Nothing is the absence of emanation and so the One is prior to the something/nothing distinction entirely.
Zero isn't a number, agreed. But the two 1s at the start of the sequence aren't arbitrary. They're the Monad and Mind. The One and its first self-reflection (note, not additon - the ratio relationship from one to the next). They start the sequence because emanation starts with the One knowing itself. 1 and 1. Not 0 and 1.
Mathematically the sequence starts with 0, but the Pythagorean sequence starts with 1,1. There is no 0 in metaphysical hierarchies, and 0 holds no significance in this context.
A thing and its inversion would sum to the whole because they are two modalities of the same thing - the whole. If you treat the universe as mathematical and assume the ontology follows the math, then it seems logical. But, reality isn't mathematical, it is ratios that can be described using numbers. Space and counterspace don't cancel eachother out, they coexist as two expressions of the same thing. The same way male and female are two halves of the whole, complementary expressions, and one cannot exist without the other.
You're smart and analytical. We can't think our way into understanding and recognition, this is a limitation of dianoia. The very same limitation that AI is subject too, but it doesn't have the capacity to truly understand or connect the way we do as humans.
well, my model is based on what i'm familiar with and the chinese systems are clearly crafted as being based on arithmetic, topology and geometry. i use these models because they apply directly to computation. i think the thing is that there is multiple ways to cut through it, the thing itself is not nameable.
