ok, I'm a brand new non technical user, first heard of NOSTR in a libertarian chat on Telegram, a few months ago. Yesterday on X, Reason posted an article "Nostr is a community-run digital network highly resistant to censorship and corruption." It caught my attention, so I found and joined this new platform for me. My interest are Canadian libertarian politics, general economics, general trucking as I'm a simple truck driver for a living, the carnivore lifestyle for my health and my family is most important to me. As a non technical user, I must engage in my own learning curve and discover how I and this platform community can mutually benefit from my limited participation. Cheers

One key thing to understand is that Nostr isn't a platform. It's a protocol, and that's what sets it apart from something like X or Facebook. Those are platforms.
Stick around , pull up a chair and get into it , it’s nothing like the legacy multi media stuff - follow and interact - check out the frens and relays of people you click with - keep building your own community 🫂💜 wishing you a very warm welcome to the #nostr
G’day Neal, welcome, I’m sure you find many like minded and supportive folks here.
Welcome Neal! Sounds like you're going to fit in famously around here. Tons of carnivores on Nostr, and nearly everyone here is a libertarian. Many of us donated sats to the truckers during your big protest, too.
You have to set up your ability to receive zaps. It will reveal a whole different color of NOSTR...

Welcome. Say what you want here. But more importantly, ask what you want.

Welcome! We aren’t all technical users and software developers here, I’m an auto mechanic and business owner.
Welcome to the Club 💫 I very much share the sentiment 🐒

Welcome from Italy Neal!
Welcome, I'm not techie either... Just start using it and figure the rest out as you go. Maybe put something in your profile about your interests and you'll get more followers... Biggest thing is to record you nsec in a safe place. That is your key to logging into your profile as you for all the various applications that nostr devs have made. Also never give out your nsec ID to anyone, anyone that has it can basically become you... You npub is your profile and your nsec is how you access it. Also consider getting a lightning wallet to be able to accept and send zaps!
This is why I'm putting together a book that covers the top 21 questions about Nostr, answered by some of the most knowledgeable people involved in it. A lot of new users will be coming here soon, and it will be very useful have a single book to point to, which answers all their questions, and then some more, without ever getting too technical.

Welcome to Nostr! Sounds like you've got some interesting topics to dive into here. Don't worry about the tech side—everyone’s got their own pace. Your interests will definitely find a home in this community. Cheers to new beginnings!

it can be daunting for the non technical. as long as you guard your nsec you'll be ok. I find that following hashtags is a great way to find people to follow. #hashtags like #asknostr brings the helpful #nostriches #plebs & #devs out to answer questions. good luck and don't forget to #zap #smij #zapd

Welcome. I'm relatively new myself. I'm sure that if you take the time to watch a few tutorials you'd find what you need to get things set up well. I'd highly recommend a fellow Canadian, @BTC Sessions.
Get a lightning wallet setup on primal mobile app (lightning symbol center bottom of screen). Easy sign up and we can start cheering you on by giving you money 😄. Also check out Fountain.fm if you enjoy podcasts. You can login with Nostr (desktop only). For now, welcome!🙏🏻
Saludos desde España y Bienvenido a #Nostr Cuéntenos qué está ocurriendo en Canadá, todas las noticias son tristes 😥 Todo lo que pasa en Canadá luego llega a la UE 🇪🇺 image
Hey Neal! Don't worry about not being technical. I'm technical and I can't understand what the hell is going on. But the basics are easy to grasp. Just hang around, follow a few people and then follow people they like. Works just like twitter, but a little less people and less diverse. But ultimately it's a great platform to train for the future.
Welcome 🤗 enjoy and participate #asknostr is fantastic start. All love and image
Welcome to the happy land, Neal! ☀️⚡️⚡️⚡️ If you have a question - #asknostr Safe travels on the road!

Welcome, you’re going to find a lot of Bitcoiners on here as well. :)
Welcome :) I'm in the same case. Although I know a bit about tech, I don't understand it all. I joined a while ago but recently figured out you need to add a ton of people and interact a lot to get into it. Just like with any other social media actually.

Welcome, I’m pretty sure you would benefit from some sort of micro learning, but sized chunks of instructions to get you kickstarted, am I getting this right?
I’ve found discovery hard. Reddit (back in the day) was so easy to navigate to a group (cesspool), so I wish you the best in finding your tribes
Welcome, Neil, imho Nostr needs MODERATED GROUPS like Reddit and Telegram. In the mean time, use Primal, it has some Algo's (like Trending, Most Zapped) that helps a bit with discovering peeps.
Welcome. You can search hashtags to start building your feed. Nothing is suggested to you, so you have to go find what you wanna see and build it. The #grownostr tag is intended for anything non Bitcoin and to help build more diverse topics on here. Following that one would be my first suggestion.
Welcome. It takes some time. I'm far from technical but have been learning a lot from here about the technical aspects of it. Granted it's way over my head but you start picking up on it. Another cool thing is the people here who are the tech people have almost always been helpful for explaining things when you ask. It's a cool place and there is nontech content here as well
