While we're busy arguing over clients right now, the rest of the world is starting to take note of the "other stuff" we're doing here on NOSTR. There's Martti's NOSTR VPN Tailscale replacement: There are several, serious NOSTR Instant message clients based around NIP-17, like npspeak: There are NOSTR file hosting clients like DTAN server, a NOSTR native Torrent that doesn't require central co-ordinator site: There are Blossom servers like Route96: There's nostrmail, a cross-platform email encryption tool that bridges Nostr and email protocols: And probably many more. Look up. This may be one of those slowly, then suddenly moments.

Yup. @npub130mz...l29s uses nostr for node discovery and user login to save AI chats to relays. Way more than a social app.
How does this work? How would anyone pull down weather data? Im genuinely curious. Is it just a matter of adding the relay to my list?

» Via @mike View quoted note → View quoted note →
Good questions. There's a nip which covers three kinds: 1. weather station itself 2. weather station reading 3. a custom list of/for weather stations There's also a repo where I have the software and instructions on how to put it on an esp32 board and how to wire things up. The created weather stations have a captive portal you connect to for further configuration (eg let it connect to your wifi). Alternatively send me a message and I can build / post one to you (but this will take a while as I'm travelling). Soon I'll build lots more with diff sensor types and start sending them around the world, then we'll see lots more data.
