“Bitcoin hashrate just plunged ~17%—as Xinjiang authorities shut down hundreds of thousands of mining rigs in a renewed crackdown. These miners operate in a legal gray zone with no asset protection; many face outright confiscation. It's a human tragedy behind the metrics. Yet this pain catalyzes true decentralization. Hashpower is already migrating to Texas, Kazakhstan, Iceland—jurisdictions beyond any single state's grip. China's '21 purge triggered a global mining boom; this wave could accelerate green energy adoption and regulatory clarity worldwide. Bitcoin's design absorbs such shocks. Short-term hit, long-term network resilience.” image

Green energy adoption? Why would anyone use the most expensive kind of electricity for any high-energy, quasi-industrial concern like hashing? Other than that, yes it's a tragedy, and yes, more decentralization is more better.
Bitcoin incentivizes the use of energy that would otherwise be wasted. Capturing that energy makes any production more efficient and in turn, more "green".
Fully agree, if "green" means efficient, then I can clearly see the incentive.
Agree... Plus the miners getting shut down and confiscated will just be turned on soon by those that took it 😂
