we discovered a great use case for bitchat at a conference: panel moderator on the cypherpunk stage used it to collect questions from the audience. it worked great. no registration, no accounts, no qr codes, just pure mesh q&a. image

I see this in the Google Play Store, but I thought that bitchat wasn't (yet) available in any stores, and was only available via a manual Indian of an apk. Is this the real app? image
Don’t trust, verify. Judging from the company name and rating I think you can guess 😜

I will soon be giving a student at our university the task of writing a bachelor thesis on the question of whether bitchat can be used as an emergency communication system in hospitals🔥 Since every doctor and nurse already has a phone, it would be easy and cheap to set up. I bet it would work great in any disaster including hacker attacks.

This is awesome - was just hearing about difficulty with no signal at the Outside Lands concert… wonder if I can convince my teenager and her friends to give it a try. View quoted note →

Yes, you can even use nostr to communicate when outside of the mesh network image
I didn’t realise how massive this was when experiencing it. Great panel on sovereign individual ⚡️🙌🏾
Always nice to see works being made 🫡 I just don’t know how many of these we need!!?? This is basically just an RDC
Why doesn't bitchat keep running in the background? I had opened it and my girlfriend too, an hour later I went to the toilet outside the mountain cabin (without connection), but was out of paper. We weren't connected anymore so I couldn't message her for more paper haha. Any plans on improving this? It seems like you have to explicitly open the app both at the same time to make it work now.

This might be off topic. Is anyone creating a Nostr app store? Apple store is not my go to place. The implications /use cases for Bitchat is awesome .

Fascinating. Bluetooth isn't the most reliable connection but seems like a good stepping stone until it improves.
If you’re on iOS, it won’t matter, you can still only download from the AppStore, unless you live in Europe, they like playing fast and loose. TestFlight is the closest thing to something like that. I don’t think their standards are as high for that so you may be able to slip an app through there. I have seen some pirated movie apps on there on occasion, so it’s not like it can’t be done.
Foundation has a new piece of hardware coming out soon called the prime, it’s a hardware wallet and a lot more. Anyways, they have created some sort of sandboxed, for lack of a better word, Bluetooth chip that allows for secure connections without leaving you wide open to an external attack. Maybe something like that for mobile devices could be in the future?
