Don't suggest a developer resign unless you're the one who will shoulder the load. And if any bitcoin developer is thinking of stepping down over the current drama, *please * reach out to me: I've been a FOSS dev full time for over 25 years and I've been there! I'm not going to judge, but I may have a useful perspective. ❤️

No work is better than harmful work. If someone thinks a developer is harming a project they can and should voice their opinion.
There are many folks in the space that have a gap or two in their communication skills and that's often the root cause of the conflicts in my opinion. If someone is in such situation (on either side), pls chat with Rusty or I'm also happy to jump on a call and talk through it, maybe give some tips and tricks. I have been helping resolve conflicts between engineering teams for the last 12 years.

I’ve been running bitcoin infrastructure and using bitcoin as money since 2013, you’re a shitcoiner. Go play somewhere else

I’ve been doing that in my free time, unpaid, while you have been publicly begging for donations for your shitcoin development

Rusty can give inside perspective, and outside perspective is good too. There are war tactics being used against the Core Developers of Bitcoin, and the stakes are greater now than ever. Keep in mind the importance, and someday the thankless will be thankful.
I hugely appreciate what these developers have brought into the world without me paying them in any way. I'm impressed, inspired and humbled by their efforts. Like most noise on the internet, I am delighted to ignore your claimed opinion.

I suggest all developers that work on bitcoin for NGU reasons (or worse) should resign. I'll shoulder nothing for that one.

What's your point? You sound like a fan of Bitcoin Cash Now is your chance to stop random insults and conspiracies, and have an intelligent conversation. Are you willing to take part? I'm not an expert, but I think take part in a sane conversation What's the "shitcoin" that you are referring to?

You started it. You can't call someone a shitcoiner without clarifying which shitcoin you are referring to Are you saying that BTC is a shitcoin?

So you attacked me for something you don't understand. Seems like you entered here in bad faith.

I know you think you're smart, playing these word games But you can't seriously expect to win followers to your cause by making a series a random vague insults If you want to win, you need to consider an audience of people who are technically expert but who aren't doomscrolling Twitter all day

I’m not here to get followers. Make those points to the abusive @calle

I have supported bitcoin infrastructure longer than current devs are devs without you paying me in any way. I’m disgusted by their misguided efforts. If you want to ignore somebody, don’t reply to them 🤦🏻‍♂️

Bitcoin Core needs a time out. The developers may be technically brilliant, but they have lost ground with the broader community and the many people who have entrusted their life savings to Bitcoin. Bitcoin is money. Spam has no place on the timechain. Bitcoin Core must change course
would you mind sharing the reasons for core30? i would love to understand this better. i have read a lot about trusting the experts and i have seen ignorance, but knots usage being at almost 20% and growing - wouldnt that suggest educating the public might help stop this trend?
Yeah, no I won't shoulder. Any Bitcoin core developer who is there to destroy Bitcoin should definitely resign and never touch a computer in their life.
Dismissing it as manufactured eh? There's about a 45/55 split between Core 29 and Knots 28. Maybe time to reconsider whether pushing through changes people hate and lying about the rationale isn't the best idea?

Existential drama is unnecessary. Core is failing to sell their points and the prevailing state will always bee to do what’s secure (no change in the short term). There’s time for them to keep selling their points and vice versa. I still haven’t heard a strong pitch for anything specific and I’ve heard a lot of general whaling and arrogance from core. UTXO set bloat, L2 scaling challenges, protocol enhancements, or whatever…. What are the needs and benefits and why are they so important? Where are the best pitches for the op return expansion? You know, the ones that make it clear that it is more important than network security concerns. The one that have actually flipped some opinions? As an avid confirmation bias resister I’m super interested in these but so far I’m not convinced and I’m definitely not convinced any change is actually urgent. 👂👂👂
When you're an ignorant fool, watching wizards work their magic can be quite scary! You should probably avert your eyes unless you're willing to dig deep into the rabbit hole.

Doesn’t matter the exact number. There’s been an obvious shift in sentiment from many node runners. The system is working as every node is a vote. Core seems to think they are entitled to do what they want without pushback. Should people be more respectful in the debate? Sure, but this is the internet after all
Yeah X is all bots Nodes are gamed Couldn’t be that a lot of people actually disagree with Core’s actions
It sounds like you are against Bitcoin? Imagine being dumb enough to think that centralising Bitcoin is beneficial to anyone that uses it. Why do you want to limit who can run a node?
Anyone pushing to allow spam on the blockchain knows that allowing spam will lead to child porn and malware. As we have already witnessed this play out with other blockchains and forks of Bitcoin. These bad actors trying to centralise Bitcoin should resign.

They want to shoulder the load: replacement is the goal. Why send your PRs to an open repo and have to deal with public review when you can push people to switch to a repo you control, with the ability to both block changes you disapprove of and force through changes you like? The technical and economic disagreements are a useful justification, but they're not the fundamental motivation.
That's a hard question. When you got into a nasty dispute in the kernel, it was usually with a peer who was at least credible in their field. This stuff is easier to ignore, but there's more of it.

definitely easy to ignore. Feels like it’s mostly just wasting lots of time in a space that already moves pretty slow. I wonder how many years of progress this has set us back. Also i can’t imagine this getting any better with more users
Create repo for the formal argument for/against. Barrier to entry filter and deduplication. Repeat contributor patterning as prima facie wall of shame.
No, really, this is a distraction. All drama, no content. But being tricked into doing something by a paper tiger is a real category of mistakes. I will ignore it, continue my work unaffected, and the world will slowly improve.
