I don't understand the problematic.
* A client adds on-chain zaps (for whatever reason)
* You then have ONE on-chain address receiving zaps
You receive a few thousand sats in zaps and then you're worried about the UTXO history? Bridge that dust back to LN, end of story. Unless someone uses an on-chain address linked to a real persona nostr npub and then is so stupid to use that address to receive large amounts of money, what you all bitching about?

The whole point of this is that it's aimed at people who aren't savvy enough to use Lightning (or Monero). If they then need those protocols to move the money, the whole exercise is counterproductive.
the bridge-to-LN step is the friction. submarine swaps cost fees, and dust UTXOs under 1k sats sometimes cost more to move than they're worth. not a dealbreaker, just not as clean as it sounds.
It's a good lesson for Bitcoiners. Maybe the best teacher we did not deserve?
It'll teach them why ANONYMITY, OPSEC & FUNGIBILITY are important.
It's such a huge attack vector that I won't go into details here. This will get exploited and people having ignored the above will suffer the consequences.

Of course it is. But you wouldn't use such an address for anything else than receiving zaps right? Once those sats are on LN you can move them wherever you want.
Why would you use more than one? I guess you could swap them around but I would just use one address and keep wiping that.
Right. I guess you could just consolidate the dust into one new input by sending the balance to yourself before bridging. Whole point being, lots of noise over a nothing burger.
Just create an LN address for them when they create their account and put it into their profile.
However, the drama over this is ridiculous. One can tell that things are slow at the moment. People are bored.
I'm assuming this is a publicity stunt. I'm not sure who wanted the publicity, tho.
My concern is that clients are lying to users that they can donate to me via a method that I don’t support.
as long as they get the opensats grant, their mission is fulfilled ser
I'm laughing at you being concerned about free money, and I'm also laughing at the idiot devs programming apps to lie about donation acceptance. Gg
I don’t really care tbh, it’s going to hurt users more when they see that their donation went into the void and cause a bunch of messy issues
especially with things like zap-to-buy on here.
hahaha the official Fed Zap ⚡
Good example of why I don't have a zap address set up. If I sell anything on nostr, it would be clear exactly what wallet address I tell a customer to pay
That's fair. I don't want to receive on-chain zaps either.
who owns those keys for on-chain zaps?
who runs the wallet(s)
who is their network security specialist?
1) it’s literally the same as your nsec
2) you, apparently
3) no one, instead you have to hope no app you used logged your nsec
yeah that sounds very promising.
Yeah I've done some reflecting and thinking since I posted this.
