This is awesome, I e been wanting to do this with some of my harvested leather. A hoodie is a great choice. Everyone does pants and shits/jackets but not many hoodies out there. Keep us posted.

I based this on an old woolrich coat i had wornout. The zipper is still good on it, so im thinking of putting it on this one. Not authentic maybe, but practical. I kind of hate buttons... i would opt for snap buttons over trad buttons... i can always modify later however id like...
The zipper is a good plan. Snaps are rough on soft leather.
