If a pregnant woman in 2025 claimed she was a virgin and that the Holy Spirit put a baby inside her, would you believe it? Why or why not?

Back in reality, was Joseph really going to own up to not being able to keep it in his pants in that environment? Of all the clearly bullshit stories in the Bible, this is one of them.
The worst part of it all is that you’re expected to believe in something impossible just this one time. As if no other story like this was claimed before 😂
I stood in the pulpit of the church I was raised in and denied the holy spirit out loud. You think this is where I'll suddenly become concerned?
Deny all critical thinking and believe without question in what your pastor said some goat herders wrote a couple thousand years ago.
Apologies to goat herders, they don't deserve to get blamed for what Christianity did.

I would not believe. I would verify. I would never exclude without checking. If people excluded based on previous experiences we would still be in caves.
It’s actually insane when you compare the number of scientists and researchers that are religious and agnostic/atheist. Majority of this field consists of non religious people. It’s not a stretch to say that the world is advancing by the hands of a small minority of non religious people while the religious people hold the world back because they’re stubborn and stuck in the past.
I think the world has become a much better place when people started trying to solve problems with reason than by doing ritualistic sacrifices and rain dances 🤣
In 2045? I’d assume there would be more verifiable evidence by then. Either way, if the story became powerful enough and the values he preached led to success and prosperity, I’m sure it would affect the next 2000 years at least.
Nope. That's a lie, because she did the no pants dance with a guy. That was her decision, and that was that. Mary was the only one who was a virgin, married to Joeseph, and had a birth with Messiah. Nobody else but her has that honor.
So like the doctor that did the artificial insemination was named Holy Spirit? Believable these days, doctor's parents were probably some kind of new age hippie types back in the 60s
Disagree. The crusades were a great leap forward for society for sure. Once they stopped listening to gods instructions to kill every male, child, and mother, and keep only the virgin women for involuntary marriage the world got a lot more peaceful. We could still do better by leaving superstition farther behind.
The evidence is problematic. It is a deterrent of faith. As a result, the leaders of this new religion destroyed all evidence. You have to believe through experience and divine inspiration. Otherwise you’re a lost lamb.
I disagree, but let’s say that’s true for the sake of this discussion. Jesus was just a regular man, born naturally, who died on the cross and was not resurrected. He’s still the most impactful person of the last two millennia, his teachings still are relevant and important parts of our culture, and the Christian tradition should be carried on.
I’m just saying it’s the only explanation that’s is plausible; if there was or is god(s) from other worlds if they can travel from another star system I’m sure they can figure out artificial insemination. To survive on earth without space suits you need to procreate with a human. I’m not saying this is what happened I’m just saying it’s the only possibility that seems plausible if we assume that gods/aliens are real and have visited earth.

What if a whole bunch of charismatic people claimed it on her behalf after she died and wrote it down in writing so it became a myth and then the myth became accepted as a truth and people were willing to die for that truth. You’d be more likely to believe it then. If she told you straight up you’d tell her she was crazy. We all would. Even the hardcore Christians.
But but but those young male war torn orphan children would’ve grown up and tried to get revenge against us. We had to kill them for their own good. Why? You can’t question god and his ultimate wisdom. It’s like an ant questioning a humans wisdom. Am I doing it right? Do I need to pray harder to believe?
Clearly was not just a man born naturally since his mother never got fucked. Bandwagon fallacy. The most impactful musicians include cardi b and other retarded mumble rappers. That’s not proof that these are good musicians. And this is not a good argument for why we should continue following these teachings.
Bandwagon fallacy. Everyone watches porn so porn is good. Everyone likes Drake so he must have good music. Everyone takes vaccines so they must be safe and effective. I can go on and on.
Close your eyes ask him to reveal himself. Do it harder until your brain hallucinates and shows you the truth.
It does actually. Religion is at the center of most wars. Even when it isn't, religious thinking is there. We group as us and others, then demonize the other until most of us think of them as less than human. I'm opposed to broken thinking patterns and religion is just one of them.
Everyone does not watch porn, and porn is bad. Same for Drake and vaccines. I’m trying to be polite and have a real discussion here but it’s pretty intellectually dishonest to say that Christianity is equivalent to porn, drake, and vaccines. You can assess the goodness of something for yourself based on its history and its teachings. And you can even criticize the history of the Church while still acknowledging how culturally influential it was. It’s hugely arrogant and stupid to assume everyone for two thousand years was just part of some “bandwagon fallacy”.
They would kill you for not believing that Jesus was magic. Jesus was just a guy. The Romans needed a reason to worship him so that their leaders could use it to manipulate them, so they made him magic. But he was just a guy. They copied half the mythology from what they knew about other religions. Anyone can find enlightenment or become a spiritual teacher if they devote their life to it. Doesn't require virgin birth or any other miracles to achieve.
Let’s grant your interpretation. Christianity still was a pillar of our culture for thousands of years, produced great good in society, has valuable teachings, and isn’t equivalent to watching pornography or listening to drake music.
You got your 1 guy, who was running a cult. We could trade mass murders but I'm sure I'll win. I probably wouldn't even run out of old testament stories. The facts are, fewer people are religious than ever and your odds of dying of old age are higher than ever.
You’re putting words in my mouth. Didn’t say they were equivalent. I used those as an example of the bandwagon fallacy. Your argument was that Christianity is good because Jesus was so impactful. I’m arguing that other things are more impactful than Jesus. More people watch porn than worship Jesus. So porn is more impactful than Jesus but that doesn’t mean it’s good. In other words, how impactful something is does not mean it is good or right. Your argument is wrong.
Lol where did I say equivalent. Look up bandwagon fallacy. How are you going to call me intellectually dishonest when you are arguing without understanding the terminology I’m using? Also what good are you talking about? The world literally went backwards when Christianity spread. Science was abandoned for religion. The earth became the center of the universe again. Holy wars left and right. Christians killing each other trying to maintain control over the church. You’re completely misinformed.
No, here is something to verify. “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Now look up: When did Isaiah live? What is the oldest dated Isaiah scroll we found?

either that or mary was lying which is way more likely
