Nostr's relay model has failed. PUBKY uses Kademlia to form a mathematically perfect mesh of keys & resources.

There's insufficient decentralisation incentive. The most important features don't work reliably (DM's etc.). The largest client has adopted Spark which is a censorable a16z/meta/dorsey project. The UX is becoming increasingly janky. And the relays are buckling. Pubky is superior architecture, and Ed25519 is significantly faster.
Spark - nothing to do with relays. You can use it or not, it's up to you. I don't use Spark. UX - works for me. Using my own relay. Use other relays as backups. ED25519 - these days it does not matter, CPUs are super fast. Insufficient decentralization incentive - people are as decentralized as they want to be. And they can easily switch relays on the go. Superior architecture might be true, I don't know, but it means nothing if it has no users. Seems that the users prefer the "inferior" architecture.

The number of #Pubky users is increasing; even though it's in early beta and rough around the edges. Conversely, the number of Nostr users is in decline. Its new user retention is less than 1% and total zaps is less than $300/day. It seems that people aren't aware of Pubky and its architecture because the "Freedom Tech Industry'" invested lots of coin in Nostr and wants its RoI. This is why Matt Odell refuses to even speak with @John Carvalho about whether or not Pubky is better freedom tan than Nostr. You have a podcast and a discerning audience, and you are considered impartial. Perhaps you could moderate a debate?

Two Nostr clients I use and my fucking Apple Notes app uses more CPU at idle than one of them. Notedeck uses only slightly more, because I have a bunch of search columns. “You need our shitcoinesque Nostr alternative with SMS verficiation because of signing speed!” How about I need to bash these fucking cunts in the face instead? image

A lot of people still think Henry Ford was a giant cunt too. It's irrelevant.

I agree with the general concept, communication should be FULLY p2p, every user is a relay, there is no reason nostr had to centralize around relays, we have decades of fully p2p systems that worked idk why nostr decided to reinvent the wheel
Tbf John being a giant cunt is why I'm pretending to understand what any of this means, and becoming increasingly convinced all 24 of us should join pubky

anyone that figures it out for themselves is totally welcome, but honestly, i am starting to hope some of these people never come to pubky...
Does Pubky also chunk and randomly distribute fragments across the network to provide plausible deniability to relay runners? And perhaps some way to reward relay runners like filecoin/storj/sia/whatever? That would actually commodity-fy relays and incentivize people to run them.

I think there's some holepunch/noise stuff going on. You'll get far better answers if you ask on Pubky though.

Yeah - a real homeostatic economic model was never realised because some disruptors started playing confetti-money at the outset.
