Rabbit ears with 1080i signal and a Plex server FTW. I'm the only person I know that can dcr and pause a live stream of OTA TV channels. I can watch live TV from my phone too.😎
I think cheaper. You need at least 4 or 5 services to get decent movie/serie coverage. I recently replaced my 11 year old celeron nuc with an 8 year old i3 nuc for €100. I think the biggest expense will depend on how much you intend to store and how many disks that will require.

It feels so much better to have a curated media collection without the noise and monthly fees.
Any guides for setting up the VPN + Torrent side of it all? I haven't been able to find any solid resources and am too scared to mess any of that up lol
Ah yeah ok, i've been doing fine with around 12TB in zfs, but i delete most stuff after watching it except for a few things that were hard to obtain.
tv shows, movies, music, streaming services it's mostly woke, satanic garbage. Haven't watched any of that since I was a kid and even then I hated watching all of it. If you can try to cut down on watching that nonsense. I used torrents for video games & software but now we have steam and they always have sales so it's easier to buy vidoe games then download. Torrents have really gone down in usage. This confirms that people are willing to pay but if you don't give them that option they will download things.

I started collecting physical media for the first time in my life. Discs are surprisingly cheap nowadays and I now have a physical library to peruse with the best quality for each movie available and lots of included documentaries. I love it.
You install VPN (like mullvad) and then torrent client (like qtorrent) and then you search for stuff directly in the torrent client.
KODI w/Elementum lets you stream through a Netflix like interface. You can set it up to copy the file to a movie folder when it's done. qBittorrent, Here's how to config it to keep your radar cross-section tiny πŸ‘‡

image ## How to Configure and Use qBittorrent #OpenSourceFreedomSoftware You can get many things through Bittorrents. It is one of the best ways to download Linux distros, but only if you use the official bittorrent from the distro's website. Downloading a distro via Bittorrent might make it look like you are grabbing movies or music, so here's how you set up qBittorrent to help keep yourself off of your ISP's radar. Click each step to go to a more detailed tutorial for that step. 1. Use a VPN with your system There are so many options on VPNs, so we're not going to attempt to tackle this Most tutorials recommend you use a VPN, but you can try these settings, and if your ISP leaves you alone, no need to pay for a VPN. If you get the letter, you can then get a VPN. Note: You can do the exact same things in Transmission (https://transmissionbt.com/), except search.
