the ipad pro has replaced my laptop. trick: don’t use the apps. web only.

My laptop (a cheap Chromebook) replaced my tablet. I wanted a big screen that would hold itself up to watch video and a keyboard for emails or basic documents. What are you doing on the web that you find a tablet preferable to a laptop? I don't think a lot of web content is touch-driven.

You don’t understand. They almost never touch the screen. It’s pretty much a super portable laptop now, aside the shitty iPadOS experience you get. image

I installed Linux on a Microsoft Surface Go tablet. Use it as a small computer from time to time. Pretty neat.
Do you use a mouse? I can’t get used to the mouse on the iPad Air. It’s like a magnet to buttons that I don’t want to press.
Does being thinner and lighter actually make it more portable? If I want to take my laptop somewhere I put it in a faraday bag and then put that inside a laptop bag. How would my laptop being a little smaller change that experience?

Not Linux need the terminal... Assuming you’re using shortcuts with the web apps maybe?. Have a iPad but cause of limitations aka keyboard etc but might play around nice tip!

I find that hard to believe to be productive. What are the 5 most “websites/apps” you use? Keyboard and mouse attached?

Same. For quite a while now. Web only is much more secure too. 💥

I find myself grabbing my iPad Pro more than my laptop too these days but conversely I’m using all the apps and still go to the laptop when I need web. What browser(s) are you finding most useful on ipad OS that solves it for you?

This has become the choice tech executives for some reason. Our CTO doesn’t code anymore and is mostly on calls, so I guess he doesn’t “need” a laptop. I’d still think laptops would provide a better experience tho. View quoted note →

You can't use it to type things without carrying an external keyboard. Might as well have a laptop at that point.

Try pixel with grapheneOS or lineageOS and install microg in it or without it.
Exactly, and when you want to use the touch experience or watch something you can fold the keyboard away. You're getting flexibility, maneuverability in a cheaper package.

Yeah the Apple Magic one is the best. I’ve tried a few other things and there’s always connection issues or some other drama. The Apple one just works perfectly all the time and provides extra battery too.

I am using my iPad as extended screen from my Mac so I just use keyboard and mouse 🐁 from my Mac . No additional iPad pencil needed.
Getting there too. Using blink shell for remote development with code-server over ssh tunnel. Do you end up using stage manager much?
