Political circus. I live here. Election year (municipalities). X is widely used for campaigning.
Scare tactic I'd say. How could you really enforce it in a place like Brazil. True tho. He isn't doing himself favors

All the top Chairs of the Brazilian government are occupied by criminals! This Supreme Court Justice is one of the leaders of the organized crime in Brazil! His Cartel is called PCC!! Same name as the Cuban and Chinese political parties!
The saddest part, Lyn, is seeing the mainstream media overwhelmingly support his decisions. It's heartbreaking to watch my country unravel before my eyes.

Brasil 🇧🇷 have a dictator… God help us
The fine for people using VPNs to access it is crazy. And the judge really does look like a comic book villain.

I’m wondering when the tipping point occurs when citizens just lose their shit, pick up any weapon they can find and do a French style revolt.
This is actually absolutely disgusting to watch unfold in real time. Seeing my favorite AI engineer and content creator have to publicly say goodbye bc he lives in São Paulo… a man who has dedicated his life to bettering the world through compute. I’m usually middle of the road, but I’m disgusted. I’m a real human being saying, “I’m being forcefully cut off from my community right now” Just the beginning…

Just like I said, news that they are “negotiating”
"And the judge really does look like a comic book villain." Agreed. Alexandre de Moraes reminds me of the villain from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, #JudgeDoom. #LifeImitatesArt ? image

Tornado cash, samourai , telegram guys thrown in jail for providing a tool. That’s going after developers and not users. Fining people for tweeting or using a VPN is going after users and not developers. Shouldn’t VPN CEOs and Elon go to jail? At least be consistent.

Jesus. Does nostr fix this? I guess they have no one to come after like Musk, but they can still try to “ban” it 🤔 But bitcoin at least begins to address the bureaucracy.

B in BRICS, who want to come up with a new global currency have serious trust issues.
what did U do when uncle $am did it 2 americans all these years? n0w brazil is doing y the f*k every0ne is screaming abt it.
Not impossible, but VPN providers would have to bend the knee for Brasil to give their data, but not gonna be easy to force providers who operate outside of Brasil. And if they did, it would reduce the value proposition of their business, so I think they are incentivized not to give data away if possible.
They won't be able to enforce it, brasil government gonna have hard time to get VPN providers from other jurisdictions to disclosure data. Doesn't make sense for business to do that, otherwise they lose customers quickly.
Censorship as a tool for those in power to maintain control. Unfortunately, such mechanisms are on the rise worldwide. 🤔
Unfortunatelly we, Brazilian people haver been facing this kind of shit from supreme court members due to the connivance of part of the collectivist population of votters, whether out of ignorance, personal interest or convenience.
